I valet parked at a restaurant, did not see a sign saying something to extent that I have to remain on restaurant premise or else I would be towed. I parked there, went walking around for few hours and returned. My car was still there and the attendent claimed that he had just called the tow truck and said if I didn't pay him the $75 fee to cancel the tow truck that my car would be towed. I do not believe that he had called a tow truck, however, he would not give me my keys until I paid him the $75, and demanded cash. What options do I have with this valet company? Can I file a case with the police department for extortion? I have a valet receipt that says I paid them $75. Thinking about calling consumer watch group or newsstation because they did this to me, I'm sure they have done it to many others and pocketing $75 cash each time!!Frustrating! any advice really appreciated. Thanks in advance

follow-up. thanks everyone for your answers, you've been great. Maybe this will help others: I'm in CA. After reading some of your great responses, I decided to call randomly 4 different towing companies and 3 out of the 4 said unless I was hooked up, I got scammed. Thanks!

If you live in California, if you get to your car, even if the tow truck has it on the back of its truck bed, s/he must return your car, if he doesnt you may call the police and they will have them arrested and return your car, no fees. it doesnt matter if its public or private property. this is a recent law and was devised to stop tow trucks from taking cars illegally. that would be cool to call a watch group, dont take them to court, you'll probably end up in small claims court and it'll cost you about 300 just to file the papers. I'd go back to the v.p. and tell them your taking them to court, just a little white lie, if you dont get your $. kick some a#@

there is honestly no longer some thing incorrect with what you're doing. One evening out a month or another month is truly lifelike and some thing is unquestionably incorrect including your husband, particularly considering that he went to his mom about it. each body is nice, moms favor "me" time too. A time to loosen up and take your options off issues each once later on. or you would exceedingly a lot basically may besides be a slave. the newborn can live on without you once a month. He/she's no longer likely to strengthen up and say "Omg mom you've been a foul mom". in case you do not guard your self, you shouldn't experience free, and that's going to reflect on your marriage and your infant. Now it truly is irresponsible and what makes a foul mom.
