I have wondered the same thing. I think that this part of history has been left out because God wasn't concerned with us knowing the names of all the people who were on the earth - only the main players at that time. Adam and Eve were said to be the first parents. I think that perhaps Adam and Eve, being the first people, did not have the same biological clock as we did, and they produced many children. The first 2 children were likely Cain and Abel, but more followed. As these children grew up, they married one another (what else were they supposed to do in those days?) and produced more children. It's possible that by the time Cain found a wife, many people had been born from Eve and possibly even from her own children. Cain could have been a hundred or so years own by this time, which would be very old by today's standards, but young by the standards of those days when the Bible reports that people lived a few hundred years. I could be wrong. I surely don't know. This is just what I like to imagine it was like.

genesis says that god created the nations,ethos, etc on the sixth day then he rested on the seventh day .It was after that he created Adam and eve. So people were created two days before Adam and eve. But you have to realize that the days mentioned are actually 1,000 year periods. So that gave those other people that were created first 2,000 years to be fruitful and multiply. More proof. When Cain was being kicked out of the garden of Eden he complained that everyone he ran into would try to kill him for his murder of able. Cain with his own mouth tells us there were more people there. And he went to the land (town) of Nod which was a trading center type town where people brought their goods to sell . It
was there he took a woman named Lilith to wife.

Gen.5:3;
Cain killed Abel, and Seth was born very close together in year 130.
In 130 years there would be a population to allow Cain to take a sister, cousin, niece or any of the relatives available for him.
Eve was bone of Adam's bone and flesh of his flesh, so were the offsprings.
There was no law in the land on incest until 2551 years after Adam.

The way it was explained to me is Cain was an older man, probably in his 40's or 50's. He was Lot's brother and Cain either married one of his (own)sisters or a niece.

Adam and Eve lived a very long time and have other sons and daughters. There was plenty of time for those children to grow up, move away, and build cities. Cain married one of his sisters or nieces. It is entirely possible he never met her until they were both grown.

Obviously, God created other people after Adam and Eve.
Genesis 4:17 says, Cain (Adam and Eve's son) lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch.

A careful reading of Genesis in the original Hebrew will reveal that the author indicated that Adam & Eve were not the first humans at all and there were others. Here’s just one hint… god put Cherubs to mind the entrance. It means the garden of eden had a wall all the way around, yes? So why the wall? The devil’s in the details you know.
