Hi guys I would say I have a pretty good relationship with Jesus.
Their have been many instances where I know it is good because I feel Jesus presence.
However on a few occasions here and there I feel as if He was like a million miles away.

But I guess I can rest assured He will never leave me.

So is Jesus presence just something that usually accompanies His relationship with us?

If you feel you need his presence, just devote a little time to prayer and then ask for him to be near you. Works for me every time.

Yes, the presence of the Holy Spirit is always with a believer but I do understand what you mean by feeling that he is a million miles away. I think that has more to do with us not paying attention to him when things are going well. We just kind of take it for granted but when things get hard, we call him back to us. Human nature I guess. I do however try to at least thank him every day for all the blessings I have because of him.

I'm pretty sure every Christian has their cycles where they feel very close or very far away from God. I have been there as well. You don't always have to feel His presence in order to know He is there. He has stated in His Word that He will never leave us nor forsake us. This includes the down times in our lives and when we feel like we are a million miles away from Him. He is always there.

What an awesome question!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it.

No, I do not think you have to feel His presence to know that Christ is with you. I have, as you have said, felt like He "has been a million miles" from me. It is the knowledge, though, that He will never forsake me that keeps me going. I have read accounts of people who are/were much, MUCH more holier than me who wrestled with these same feeling. Maybe He removes the feeling that His presence is with us to keep us longing for Him.

I feel the presence of Jesus all the time.

Yes there have been a few times in my 43 years that He feels far away. But then I pray and He comes closer, almost like He is hugging me

for the duration of specific sessions on your life, you will sense God's presence better than others. It comes and is going, yet he's often there. Pray to God to do away with satisfaction if this is a stumbling block for you, ask that he might rework your coronary heart so it might replace right into a suited place for the Holy Spirit, and seek for him fervently with all your coronary heart. Pray for the desires of others; this has consistently been as quickly as I've felt the Holy Spirit maximum effectual.

We've all felt far from him and we've all felt incredibly close at some points (speaking for Christians at least) but as wonderfully fulfilling as the highs are, you can't base your faith on what you 'feel.' Because at some point you won't feel it, and if you don't have faith in spite of that, then you are going to falter.

Dear Bearkill,

i think the Bible gives us many passages and stories of people who are near and far from God to give us encouragement and hope. There are many verses where we are told things so that we will know. John in 1 John 5 tells us that we have the inner witness of the Holy Spirit so that we know that we have eternal life. i think while we can not always trust our feelings only- that we also don't want to not understand the importance of feelings. The fact that you feel empty when God is not near- is something God could possilby allow to draw you to draw near to Him.

Many great believers in the Bible (like King David) experienced times when they felt far from the Lord. They expressed their hearts honestly to the Lord. God not only promises the presence of the Holy Spirit- but He promises that as we draw near- He will draw near to us.

I've found that every time i have felt far from God (most times because of my own sinfulness) God has promised that if i confess he is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me (1 John 1:9) and that i can approach his throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). I'm not suggesting that when we are distant that it always means we are sinful- but just to say that God is truthful to His promises. He promises sufficient grace, and to draw near when we draw near and seek Him humbly.

One reason i wholeheartedly believe in the Lord is that everything that He has promised in the Bible- i have found to be true.

Hope that you rely upon the truth of His promises when your feelings tell you that He is far... The Bible promises that He is near and that he is the author and finisher of our faith.

God Bless You. Kindly,

Nickster
