Atheists have opinions on religious matters, too. Some atheists even consider themselves spiritual.

lol you worship a god that would rather deceive people interesting...
I hate the whole you can't prove his nonexistence thing. Well I can prove that we've evolved and the universe is self maintained. Which doesn’t leave to much room for a magical sky daddy. But of course that isn't enough because god is invisible and outside of time blah blah blah. The existence of a unicorn can't be proven and neither can the nonexistence. So maybe you should start worshiping unicorns. It makes about as much since but oh of course that’s just silly. I was once a strong Christian and then learned the truth. And for some reason I had hope that you could convert Christians with rational argument. But I have now given up the only way for you to learn is self realization. Sadly our egos are too big to accept we are wrong. Just as mine would have been when I was younger. All atheists’ wish Jesus was real but the fact is he isn't. I come to this site because I care about people like you. I want to help academic fields become better after intelligent people like you are freed from such absurd superstition.

I do not try to prove that god does not exist. I could not absolutely validate the existence or non-existence of anything, even Santa. But I do not think that religion and the definition of a personal gendered god is by any means accurate, and religion can be disproved to a strong extent (like Genesis in the case of Evolution). Depending on the definition, I am either atheist or agnostic, because I do not believe that a deity does not exist, I think it is highly unlikely, yet I take no absolute view.
I don't prowl categories to answer. Yahoo Answers posts all recent questions from all categories in a long list. I just choose the topics that interest me. Why do Christian posters go to questions by atheists? Same issue. And what's wrong with mingling different views? That's what Yahoo Answers is all about: Open questioning, not separation based on religious doctrine.

Seriously, aren't you the slightest bit interested why people would reject something that defines your existence? if they're jerks, that's one thing, but i (an agnostic) come here for knowledge and differing views. i save anything profound, whoever it comes from. I doubt they are secretly looking for proof, as you said it doesn't exist and they know that. it's the core of their logic.
However, if you claim the Bible proves God, and in the same way the Bible also proves that humanity is around 6000-10000 years old, originating in Iran, then that can be proven false. God can't be attacked, but specific beliefs, which most christians have, can.

His creation testifies to his existence, there is a God and everyone knows it, they just chose not to believe, actually they do believe but they refuse to accept that they believe.Sin is 'sweet' and they would rather live that way. I lived that way too but thanks to the Lord he never gave up on me. He found me and saved me.Iam headed for eternity in the presence of the Almighty.
So will others have eternity too, but seperate from God, thats what the Bible calls the second death . Rev. 20:12-14. And i saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened.Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyones name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Wheather you believe or not does not change Gods plan. Its wonderful to be a CHRISTIAN.

And do the people in the mythology category believe, deep down, in Zeus?
I make no secret of the fact that I would like someone to prove that a god exists. Of course I would like there to be an afterlife and all that stuff. But I'm clever enough to realise that wanting something to be true doesn't make it so.

I really am, and you are quite right that neither the existence nor non-existence of god can be proven. But it provably follows from this that no theory of god can have any consequences in the real world, so any such theory is a total waste of time. Given that, what is the point of being a Christian (or anything else)?

I am really an atheist.
I come here because I hope to help people realize the sheer foolishness of belief in god. It is perfectly obvious that god does not exist. There is so much evidence against the existence of god, that belief in god will soon become synonymous with belief in the tooth fairy.

Maybe it is the Spirituality part, maybe it is because some other religions DO NOT believe in god. Try not to be so Judgemental and think Christianity is the only religion in the world, would you?
By the way, you cannot prove something is not there, so atheist would not be proving something that is not there.

It is uncharitable and unchristian of you (note small c) to assume that others do not have faith, hope, and belief, whether they are religious or irreligious.
An atheist may be as spiritual by your definition (possessing ideas about spirits and holding beliefs about the validity of those spirits) as the next person, may have as strongly-held convictions as the next, as may an agnostic. They are completely capable of living their lives along the same positive path as anyone else.
Furthermore, it is very presumptuous of you to assume that "we" who are not atheist are all Christian, and unimaginably presumptuous of you to assume that the existence of God is the existence not just of your God alone, but of your version of that higher power.

Out in real life I know many people who talk to me about their religion, Christianity, and that God blah blah blah the blah blah blah. Yet if I mention that I am atheist and don't believe in God they try to convince me otherwise or get sullen and hardly talk to me anymore or threaten me (a few people have been understanding however that is FEW)
I come here because I can talk about things here that I can't talk about in real life. Really, I don't want to be "brought back to the flock". I don't believe in any God and come here because in real life it is much more confrontational (then you would probably believe) then it is here on the web.
