Have any of you ever picked a best answer that did not agree with your agenda but was thoughtful and insightful?

I am curious because it seems like most from the varying viewpoints on here really are just militants looking for people who will affirm and justify their beliefs or lack therof rather then seeking honest answers and common ground.

I'm not a believer or agnostic - but I'm chosen best answers that "went against my grain" because they were well stated enough to make me at least think about what they were saying after I shut the computer off for the night.
At that point, its not about who/whats right.
Its about thought provoking.

When I ask a question, I try to pick the person who made the best attempt to answer it honestly, whether I agree with them or not.

One of these days I'm going to start a fake account for the expressed purpose of agreeing entirely with the poster, to see if I can get 100% 'best answers'.

I have picked best answers from Catholics and Muslims while I am Baptist. I would consider giving an atheist a best answer if they ever gave a good thought out answer that was clearly trying to offend me or call me stupid for my beliefs.

I don't usually pick best answers for anyone, but I do often give a thumbs up to someone who disagrees but is respectful and thoughtful in their comments. Just because we don't agree doesn't make him or her a bad person. We all have the right to choose. I chose Christian.

I rarely ask questions but have selected answers that did not necessarily support my point of view. I have also received best answers from atheists on several occasions.

I have chosen answers that don't agree with me before. I would never pick a best answer though if someone is being rude and nasty.

Yes, a number of them. If I am asking a question, I want to hear what people think.

Look at my questions history if you like. I want insightful dialog, not rigged q&a.
