It is always cheaper to insure together due to multicar discount. But, both cars must be in the name of the named insured on the policy. Do you 2 live together? That will also determine if you can do this. If you put both cars in both names (which would probably be best if you are not related by blood or marriage), both of you would have to be named insured on the policy.

My dad asked our car insurance about setting up my own account, and they told him it was always cheaper to insure cars under the same name. There is a discount involved. Hope this helps.

Yes, but that's assuming the two people are not living in separate households. I can have my car and my wife's on the same policy and get a multi-car discount. But I couldn't decide I wanted to be added to a friends policy who lives across town.

Depends on what the driving records are for each person, generally speaking if you insure multiple vehicles and insure your home as well, you will receive credits and lower rates.

It depends...how old are the drivers, do they have any violations, what are the cars, the questions go on and on...you might get a multi-car discount.

That's almost a no brainer... Unless the 'one name' is someone with 50 tickets, no license and a few DUI's of course.

BUT ...having said that...

Make sure the SECOND driver is still covered... that is not always the case.
