I have had pain in the bottom back molars on both sides of my mouth for about a week now. I have had my wisdom teeth removed so I know it isn't that. If I bite down I can feel the pain get more intense. I can feel with my tongue that the gum line there seems to be raw and tender. At first I only felt it on my right side then that pain subsided and got more intense on my left side and during different times in the day the pain comes and goes. Hot and cold foods do not change the sensitivity. I am going to make an appointment with my dentist. What is odd to me is that it happened on both sides of my mouth at the same time. Any clues?

**UPDATE**

I went to the dentist today and he had told me that the fillings on my back molars which had been redone about a month ago were too high causing my bite to be misaligned. It makes me wonder though, if that was really the problem why did I just start to feel the effects a month later? Dentist grinded the fillings down so we will see if that did the trick.

Maybe you have gingivitis since it is raw and tender on the gumline. Try flossing and rinsing with warm salt water it may help until you see your dentist.

you may have an infection. If you're not flossing properly then food can get trapped below the gumline and cause an infection.

yeah, i agree, i've found when i get the feelings of toothache many times it means i'm not flossing enough, this may or may not help, using mouthwash regularly is probably a good idea too if you're not already
