I am a teacher.
I can just about guarantee you that your teacher will find out - Your writing style is VERY distinctive in MANY ways. Grammar, spelling, punctuation - A section that is written by someone else (particularly a professional author) is going to stand out like a flare.
At that point, you fail that paper, and are likely to fail the entire course.
In college, you will usually be ejected from the college, permanently.
If you use someone else's words, cite it.
Orion
EDIT: Yes, it's the same thing. What you are doing is paraphrasing - That should still be cited, although it wouldn't go within quote marks.
Why not just paraphrase it and cite it? That's VERY common and usually acceptable - for instance, you might do something like that with my post above, like so:
Orion, posting on Yahoo Answers believes that using someone else's words without citing them would be cheating. He also says that doing so could mean failing the paper, the course, or even being ejected from school! ([URL LINK HERE])
Now - That gives you a lot of text that you can use and it's properly cited. See?

wow this is a very serious matter. please see the link below as well as reading my opinion. If you copy and paste any material you are "CHEATING". It can not be made any clearer than that. Depends on the school but you could be potentially thrown out and or face discipline action for doing such a illegal task. you are passing off ones own work for your own. Yes they can find out there is software or google if you put a sentence in it could come up on the search engine and now you have been busted. I have a question when was this assigned? If you are having this much problem with the assignment have you considered to contact your teacher? I reccomend you read the material over again and at all cost avoid plagarising. if your material is a book related to save you time i added some links below the plagarism sites for some help but dont copy and paste any material. Some other advice is you put the material in quotes then cite your material using MLA format perhaps depending on your class. But do not quote your whole paper, but you can use sentences and previosu quotes.

Yes unless you put it in quotes and cite your sources, it is considered plagiarism, which is illegal. Depending on your school rules you could be punished with anything from a zero on your paper to expulsion. Plagiarism is definitely not worth it and teachers often know when their students hand in work that doesn’t sound like they wrote it! If they become suspicious all it would take is a quick google search to find the article that you copied from. I know it is hard but it would be best for you to stick to your own words! And good luck with your paper :)

YES, unless you are quoting! Its copy-write infringement, and its illegal. If there is ANY way (you know, the Internet?) that the teacher, who probably knows a little about the subject, could run across this article I would not do it. I knew of kids who got caught because teachers would go on-line and type in parts of papers into the search engine to see if one was cheating. If your teacher does catch on it could be any punishment from suspension, to expulsion. Not to mention an F.

Veronica, at the heart of your problem is the question of honesty. Just because you're having a hard time doesn't mean that you can plagiarize articles from another paper. You have to put it in your own words. That's part of your research. Doing this sort of thing will only harm your originality, which in a way is being dishonest with your potential. It will also not teach you to persevere in your studies, because you take it for granted. Ultimately, you do harm to yourself.
