I mean I have had that happen too many times. What do you say to them when they qoute scripture to you? I believe in god but I have doubts about the bible. I think it sort of contradicts itself in some ways. Instead of giving me real answers to my questions I get bible versus. That doesn't help cause it's like spewing forth garbage to me. You might as well qoute Dean Koontz for all the "truth" it brings. I also see alot of "your going to hell for that one" attitudes and I don't think they understand I don't want to hear it. I want to know how do you really know ?what underlying evidence or proof do you have to "know" this stuff. "I just know" isn't an answer either. People all feel there church is the right church. What brings on this exceptionally strong attitude? Is it because we are afraid that his is all there is or what?

Let me say this shakespears taming of the shrew would be interpeted as "put the Bi*** in check if you were to rewrite it now. It's supposed to be a comedy, right. But lets go back 1400 hundred years and reinterprete it a thousand times, when the bible was written anoone has the ability to understand it anymore. I mean it has been rewritten so many times I believe noone knows it's true context anymore. I have read the bible and It makes no sense to me.

The Bible is GOD's Word and it is the Book we will all be judged out of when we stand before God. It is NOT contradictory. It explains itself very well if you wish to study it but you can't take Scripture out of context nor can you build a doctrine around one verse alone - it must balance with the truth of other verses throughout the book. Look for the eternal principles taught not just single verses lifted from the overall teaching. God has overseen His Word down through the ages and is quite capable of maintaining His Word in a form that is true to the "original" Word given. It is also true that it is "spiritually discerned" - it is amazing how many people have said they did not understand the Bible until they gave their heart to the Lord and got saved. Then the Bible opened up in their understanding like a whole new revelation! If you really want to know God then you must do it HIS way and not your own. The reason you don't want to hear it is because satan has blocked God's truth from your heart. Come to God humbly, openly, reverently, ask Him to come into your heart and give you a new understanding of Him as revealed in His Word. You will be amazed at the result!

The bible is loaded with contradictions. I always hear people say that the answer to any question can be found in the bible. I hear the same thing about the movie the Godfather. I'm inclined to follow the Godfather before the bible due to the fact that the events in the movie could have taken place in the world we live in. I'm sure you know the bible was assembled by men at the Council of Nicaea a couple hundred years after Jesus death. A couple thousand years have turned a collection of stories into THE BIBLE. Perhaps 2000 some years from now Koontz will be similar to the word of God.

I believe in a creator. I refer to the creator as God. I can tell you that I just know that to be true. If someone presents me with a more logical explanation to where all the matter of the universe came from I'd be more than willing to listen. I believe Jesus lived a wonderful life and had many followers who spread his message of tolerance, respect for man, and understanding. In my opinion he is right there with Martin Luther King, Jr., Ghandi, Mother Theresa, and Abraham Lincoln. These people spread good messages and lived their lives with conviction and did good for mankind.

I think bible toters are good people. I feel they may be sheepish at times. They also seem to be closed minded to a lot of issues and throw verses at people as if it where the word of God or something. Those people truly believe every word in the book is truth. They rationalize the contradictions and differences in the gospels as literary imperfections.

Why do people attack you with bible verses? This is the easy part. You say and/or do things that go against their belief system and they have no other argument because they have everything they need in that book of theirs.

The devil's first objective was to cause Eve to question the words of God. Today the devil attacks the King James bible as he did God's words to Adam and Eve in the garden. The bible has been so revised that it's not recognizable as such so it would confuse anyone, unless they were to go back to the authorized version of the bible which is the King James, the bible with God's seal on it for the English speaking people of today, and stop undercutting their foundation by following every wind of doctrine that comes with each new version of the bible. God has promised that he would preserve his word to us. If you look around at all the bible versions that don't all say the same thing then it appears he didn't do what he said he would do. Or you can go to the KIng James version of the bible that has been preserved without change for centuries, since it was published as a completed work in 1611, so that we could have a copy of God's word in this the last days.

They spew bible garbage because they are dumb.

Read the "Jesus Mysteries". That helped me.

To repel bible attacks, I also learned a few verses by heart. Whenever I encounter a bible spewer, I spew back. It doesn't have to be relevant to the topic as those people have no idea what that stuff means anyway. But, I make sure its long enough that they will be uncomfortable as they are used to being on the giving side of the spewing. If you do this right (passionately!) they will run away! This will give you some space to think about the things you'll learn if you read the book in recommended.

Hope I helped.

Well, well, well you are definately in a confused state. If you believe in God, then how can you not believe in bible? Where would your belief of God come from if not from the bible. Im not trying to quote scripture because Im NO bible scholar and truth be told...........my sin is still hanging like a cloud over my head - but it says in the good book, that God is the Word so to believe in one and doubt the other is kinda.....impossible. Either you believe in God and find some truth in the Bible or you have allowed the devil to confuse you. And maybe the bible may contradict itself because we as believers may not have an understanding of it. But it would be easy for one to say that it contradicts itself when we dont understand the basic difference between the old and new testament of the bible. Ms. Lady, I dont know where you are in your PERSONAL relationship with the God you believe in but who would it hurt for you to believe in something and take God, at his word. My church is not he RIGHT church - it is full of sick people and too many traditions. But I love to fellowship and I think people get confused as to what we are going to church for - to worship God. Just because we live life everyday not hurting anyone, being honest, being nice, not drinking, doing drugs or being judgemental is not the same as having a "personal" relationship with God. This is concept that I myself have to deal with. Sure, Im nice, I dont drink, I dont do drugs but I lie, I manipulate sometimes, I judge. Isnt it funny that none of those things will ensure my entry into heaven? Sometimes Im so sick with my sin that I dont think that I deserve to be here but God reminds me that he died so that I may be forgiven, restored, and given a choice to live.....

By the way The Vision was the last really GOOD Dean Koontz book

The Bible should not be used to attack people. If people quote Bible verses to you and tell you that you're going to hell, that's sin at it's most terrible form. It is called "Scripture Twisting".

That is why people turn away from God because of this "wrathful this and wrathful that" tongue slinging. Even churches are responsible for this. If you make note, some of the churchgoers that live in this world who damn others because they are not following God's standards, are hypocrites themselves.

And the Bible is left on the nightstand collecting dust and it has become "biased" reading material.

So sad. That is why Jesus wept.

I have read my Bible a lot. But when I see folks making cut and paste arguments with Bible verses, I start to get a little dizzy too. The Bible is the Source of all truth of God and salvation. That is what biblios means. source. It is too deep and complex to be analyzed by an untrained , unscholared reader. It should be read ,no doubt, by all ,but you should not attempt to interpret yourself. Or try to teach from it without guidance. That will probably anger some here but that's too bad. Why do you get attacked in the first place?

The Bible is a .mans beleaf in what he beleaves and like everything else not everybody beleaves in the samethings
that is why there is so many different religions

There are bibles according to this person and bibles according to that person, now the way I look at it is... that person didn't beleave with this person so that person wrote his own bible according to him so now you have two bibles and so it goes on till there are many bibles. and many churches.

now lets look at the two sides of the coin, heads and tails, we will take heads first, God gave and never asked for anything in return, He didn't ask to build a church or temple so that you could pray to him in, he didn't ask that he be feed and clothed by the people. he didn't ask that you keep him in riches.

Now we will look at the tails side of the coin, man went out to preach the word of god, and found that people where gullible. a soft touch, they would give their goods and food to the preachers, and as time went on greed spread and more people wanted their share for the pot, so broke away for what ever reason and started their own church,

now today we have many churches and the leading religion the catholics are the richest in the world do you see the catholics poring their riches into the poor peoples pockets No,

It is the same with the other religions the Priests Pastors Vicars, are well paid by their congregation. I know a pastor that is earning $1000,00 a week, plus expenses, with a free house I say if they want to preach then let them preach but for free.
Now when I look at the tail side of the coin I don't like what I see, to me religion is a way of getting rich and the people that attend churches today are hypocrites, they will rob you blind six days a week then go to church on Sunday to give thanks for their weekly robberies

Those people are ignorant in their own faith. They were taught to better themselves with the Word. I am a devout Christian, I was taught to be humble in the eye of the Lord. If someone ask me a question about the bible, I answer it to the best of my knowledge as it is written. I do not believe in thumbing people down. Next time some religious fanatic tell you that you are condemned to hell, tell them they are too for judging my salvation, Only God determine that. Lastly Dean Koontz is an author not a god, he does not deliver truth. He just writes books.
One question....Where in the bible did you find that it contradicts itself? I may be able to answer that.
Peace my friend.

Your 1st problem is " You believe in God , but you doubt His Word in The Bible ". I can see where your confusion is just by that statement alone . That`s like wanting to be a mathematician , and studying with a cookbook , it`s not going to happen . Maybe I`m wrong , but it appears that you put very little "STUDY TIME" in The Word . Granted , The bible is time consuming to study , but you have to study and dwell on the facts that are in there for you to see. If you don`t understand something , study it until you do . Do some research on the issue you don`t understand . ( Proverbs 4:7.. Wisdom is the principle thing ; therefore get wisdom : and with all thy getting get understanding )...God Bless with Understanding !!!!!! Try the following link ( christiananswers.net ) I see where you say you have "read" the Bible , but did you "study" tha Bible , BIG difference ?
