This sounds like one of the spectrum disorders of obsessive compulsive disorder. I've heard it called many things, including compulsive skin picking, neurotic excoriations, and a variation of body dysmorphic disorder. I have this problem. It started when I was 12 years old at a very definite moment. If your sister is like me, she gets a very obsessive feeling about an imperfection (even a very slight imperfection) on her skin. There is sort of an urge to correct the imperfection, followed by a sense of mild euphoria after picking at it, which feeds the addiction.
I went to my dermatologist, who prescribed topical steroids and various creams. Nothing worked. He put me on an anti-depressant for the compulsive aspect and sent me to a psychiatrist who put me on loads of medication. This was all a huge waste of time and caused a host of additional problems, such as insomnia, severe constipation, and pretty much every other side effect that they could possibly list on one of those pharmacy pamphlets.
Here is what worked: totally ignoring the problem - and my skin. It initially helped to know that the condition I had was called something and that others were going through the same thing, but in the long run, joining a support group or seeing a psychologist would have been a huge mistake for me. Your sister should just try not to get too upset about her skin, and try her best to ignore it and the problem. She can comfort herself to know that other people will look at her and remember that she is human because of this one imperfection. They won't feel so insecure about being overweight or having hairy arms, or whatever their hangup is.
Certain cosmetic products were also key for me. One very essential and very inexpensive item is Laura Mercier concealer. They sell it at Nordstrom, and I think at Sephora or Sephora.com. She should ideally go to the makeup counter at Nordstrom and learn how to use it. I think it was about $25 when I bought it 2 years ago - yes it really lasts that long!!! It has two shades that you blend with a special brush. You learn how many strokes of one and the other perfectly match your skin. This will cover blemishes like you are completely erasing them. Afterward, set this with a translucent powder applied with a large brush. For me, after I go to so much trouble to cover blemishes this perfectly, I am reluctant to pick at them. Using good products like this can really make a difference in reducing how many blemishes remain to be concealed! I wish I had this concealer when I was 12.
Make sure she is using fragrance-free products that do not contain petrolatum or mineral oil. A wonderful foundation is Lorac oil free foundation (also available at Sephora.com). I use this before applying the Laura Mercier concealer. It is very soothing and non-irritating.
Make sure she is exercising regularly and staying healthy. If she is, she is less likely to feel depressed or anxious, and depression and anxiety are almost sure to cause an episode.

was looking for a facial recipe, a natural one, and found this wonderful website.
The "Zit Zapper" sounded so sweet and there were lots of comments from users.
Ingredients:
1/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 drop tea tree essential oil
Blending Procedure:
Saturate a cotton swap with the apple cider vinegar. Add a single drop of tea tree essential oil. Dab the cotton swab on the zit and leave overnight. Cover with a small band-aid if your pillow might rub Zit Zapper off while you sleep. When you arise, you should notice the zit has diminished.
Wish I'd had this recipe when my girls were in high school. It sounds so easy too.

That's an old wives tale sweetheart. Mangoes are good for skin because they are high in Vitamin A. I eat mangoes in the summer and have perfect skin (I have psoriasis on my scalp but it has nothing to do with mangoes). When I hear the word mango I think of Doctor No, Underneath The Mango Tree was a song that was playing on the radio in 007's car, at the bar, and Honey Ryder was singing it when she walked out of the water. That's it I have to watch that movie again!

It sounds like CSP, a mental disorder.
I have it, and it's very difficult to get rid of. Don't embarass her about it, because she already feels bad enough.
