Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Lotions, pills, antibiotics, drying agents -- what works best for teen-age acne? The envelope please.
According to an article published in Lancet, it's pick your poison. Believe it or not, they all work about the same.
Doctors studied about 650 teenagers with facial acne. They divided them into five equal groups. Each group received a different treatment.
The treatments included two different types of Tetracycline, an oral antibiotic, or three different topical treatments -- benzylperoxide, a drying agent, and an antimicrobial called Clearasil, a combo cream with benzyl peroxide and erythromycin mixed, or a regimen of erythromycin cream in the morning and benzyl peroxide in the evening.
In summary, just about any combination you can imagine and you know what? After about 18 weeks, each of the groups had about 50 percent of the teenagers get better, especially in the first few weeks.
While the studies did not look at acne on the body or severe acne, the conclusion seems clear: If you have acne, talk to a dermatologist about your potion, all of which will work about the same.

Depends on your skin and the severeness of the acne. Proactiv can be good. For very severe acne, Accutan might work, i wouldn't recommend it though, since it has too many side effects. With a little patience, Stievamycin and some oral antibiotic like Doxycycline could cure acne for good. In any case, the best thing to do would be to go see a dermatologist, and don't self medicate. Most websites I've found say that you can use products with less than 2% salacylic acid in them but products like this have not been tested on pregnant women so doctors will probably advise against it. I use Mary Kay and the only product with medication is the toner. Also I use bare minerals acne medication which has all natural ingredients and works pretty good if you use it all the time.

if proactive doesn't work...try a natural remedy...seperate the yolk (yellow part) from the whites of an egg and mix the yolk in a bowl so that its just a liquid..then smear it all over your face and let it dry..it will feel like a mask but let it set on your face for about 10-15 min and then wash off with water...it worked quite well for me and my aunt swears by it.. hope this helps.

Tea Tree products from The Body Shop. Tea Tree products are naturally antibacterial and antifungal and affordable.
AND always be sure to use a light moisturizer. Our bodies are smart. Sometimes we produce oils because our skin is dry and our bodies are trying to compensate this is why everyone needs to moisturize.

An antibiotic like Doxycycline or Tetracycline usually does the job pretty quick, Not like, overnight, but still pretty quick. Go to your regular doctor & tell them that nothing else is working. Let me know how it works out.
