Whether you are from any major (major = big) religion or comprise a faith of one, I don't mind.

Brewbeer, however you feel about the word "pride" I believe you have answered my question in the spirit in which it was meant, so thank you.
Lori, do you really feel that all pride is a sin? Perhaps we are working off two different definitions here. Is it a sin to be a proud parent, seeing your child act with kindness? Is it a sin to have pride in oneself? From a psychological perspective that's just having a healthy sense of self-esteem. I'm assuming yours is healthy enough that you don't dislike yourself. Pride is a sin when you have too much of it. But I didn't really ask this question to debate that or, in fact, give much thought to the word at all. Perhaps you'd prefer it if I said I want to know what endears people to their faiths or what they love most about them.

I am proud of nothing about my faith as a self-professed Christian for over 40 years. I am still a sinner who strives every day to be better and to glorify God in my actions.
Quite honestly, I am a bit glad that God does not appear in the heavens and thunder, "Here I AM You Wicked and Viperous Fools! Believe me, now?" Because if He did, we would no longer have any excuses for our actions and would all be found wanting. As things are today, I can hope that through my belief and my works that I will be found worthy. I don't think that I am just yet, so the longer I do not see that thundering face in the sky, the better for me.

Catholic/Christian. I am not proud of it. I don't like the word pride or proud. I guess I consider myself lucky to have a good attitude towards a higher being, lucky to have an ongoing faith with God....because for me it is hope and strength on many occassions and has kept me from doing a lot of really bad things.

The thing I most admire about Unitarian Universalism is that it is respectful--not just of people and their right to follow their own paths, but respectful of those paths. It fears not to seek the truth, however well hidden, in all books and traditions.
The thing I most admire about secular humanism, though it is not a religious faith, is that it not only seeks the truth but never seeks to hide from any truth. That may seem redundant, but experience has taught me that these are separate and equally important things.

Actually, I don't feel proud of anything regarding my faith. I have been greatly blessed by God and I am very humbled by it. I know that I am not all that he wants me to be but I will keep trying to show him how much I appreciate the fact that he is there.

i'm sorry you're depressed. you're dealing with an fairly difficult degree of existence. 15 is purely a complicated age to be! we've all been there (those human beings older than 15 besides). Being depressed at 15 isn't strange or something. You bypass by using fairly some adjustments at that age, and you come across you sense in any different case a pair of lot of issues. in actuality fairly some the hassle you're having is what you could call emotional 'becoming pains'. in case you ask human beings no count if or no longer you could believe in God, they are going to inform you what -they- believe. by way of fact they think of you could believe what -they- believe. you could hardly blame them, it is purely human nature to try this. yet purely you could verify what you suspect! it is complicated to could style it out for your self at times, yet on the different hand it is your splendid! remember you're changing and becoming on the instant so which you will perhaps think of lots in any different case in yet another 3 or 4 years. If i became you i'd purely placed off the call for a on an analogous time as! you could believe in God in case you -prefer- to. some human beings say they sense his presence while they refer to him, and that it extremely helps them. human beings ask your self what those human beings have been smoking. that's a private concern. some Christians say you could have a 'own relationship' with God, and that's what they recommend. you could verify for now which you suspect in him and believe particular issues approximately him, and verify once you're 19 or 20 which you think of in any different case. this is totally ok!

Pride is a sin. What do you have to be proud of? You didn't invent religion, did you? You didn't invent faith, did you? Did you create God, or create anything at all? If not, what is the value of your so-called pride?
Jazzycat:
Yes, I really believe that all pride is a sin. Seeing our children succeed is the result of doing our duty. If God is proud of me, that is fine, but are we the judge of our own accomplishments, or is God the judge? Also, they aren't really OUR children, are they? God chose me to be the caretaker of His children, and if anyone can be proud, it is God. I, myself, am imperfect, and have made many mistakes. They only living being with any right to pride is God Himself. Of course I have a sense of my own self worth. That has nothing to do with pride. After all, I am not the creator of my own qualities, but they have been bestowed upon me and everyone else by God alone. Again, what is there to be proud of? If you are intelligent, did you gain it by your own hand, or did God give it to you? Whatever we accomplish, it is only by God's will. We are helpless dependants, with no ability to create or conceive or accomplish anything without the direction of God. Pride is useless for us.

I'm a Buddhist and Buddhism taught the followers to be critical even to the holy scriptures (because it went through long times as it passed down so there can be errors), before believe in anything.
So my religion is based on my personal research and it strenghten the faith but not made me blind of the existance of other good religious teachings, it helps me to be tolerant. =)

I'm proud of the fact that I am saved and going to heaven when I die. I don't know if "proud" is the right word for me. I'm happy that I'm saved, but being prideful is a sin, so lets say it's the thing I'm most excited about!
