Well, christians try to convert ppl because it was commanded by their savior. Muslims try to convert ppl because they are commanded to by their prophet. Buddhists do not try to convert ppl, as they believe there is no need...you'll get it next time. Pagans do not try to convert ppl and in many pagan traditions it is frowned upon or forbidden. The bottom line is that ppl try to do what they are expected to do within their chosen faith...no matter if it is seen as disrespectful or wrong to others.

About Christianity, spreading the good news about Jesus is part of our duty as Christians. Personally, I would like to get everybody to understand what it's like to receive the Holy Spirit, even Christians who don't really have the experience. If people had any idea what it really was, most people would want it. Inner peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

God sent us here to spread his word.
People who actaully come across in the right way about Christianity, can actually get there point across.
Some Christians however, try to shove it down people's throats and it totally defeats the purpose.
That goes along with any religion actually.
But people dont see what other people see, and sometimes get frustrated. But everybody wants the others to see belive what thy belive, just so they get re-assurance that it is true.

Out of generosity, to attempt to share what one considers to be good news. This applies whether you are trying to convert someone to Christianity, Islam, or atheism.

I don't know. It's people who find God on their own that are the most staunch believers who are most comfortable in their faith.
Perhaps some people feel like they owe it to God to convert, to proove their love to God. And I know it's an actual tenet of some religions.
It seems like a means of asserting control to me. If someone wants to ask about my faith, I am comfortable talking about it, but I'll never offer the info unsolicited because I think that's rude.

Jesus Christ told us to go out into the highways and byways and preach the Gospel and try to compel others to Himself. May God Bless U.

Doesn't the Bible tell you to spread God's word? Isn't that what Jesus did when he walked the earth?
I'm no practicing Christian or anything but even I get that one.

Jesus said: "Go ye into all the world and preach the good news. He that believes (the gospel) and is baptized SHALL BE SAVED; he that believes not SHALL BE DAMNED ". - Jesus
