Can I put a turbo on that? Also if I wanted to do a motor swap, would a 3.0 engine bolt up to the transmission without changing the original one out?

Hey bro this might help you out.
First to answer your turbo question yes you can turbo your car. There are turbo kits out there but with your vechile i havent seen any. but that does not mean give up. you can do a custum turbo set up. First what type of boost are you wanting to run because if you run to much you run the high risk of causing severe engine damage.
When doing a custum turbo set up you want to think of what turbo do you want to use a big turbo that takes longer to spool but gives you a lil more top end or a small turbo for more acceleration more low end power its really up to your personal prefence
After purchasing your turbo u want to take it to an exhaust shop. so they can make u a turbo manifold which replaces ur cars stock header(exhaust manifold), the reasoon why u would do this is for the simple fact that U know the flanges will match up. Next u gonna need to increase the amount of fuel that goes in to the cylinders aswell as the fuel that is bigging pumped so ur gonna have to purchase larger injecters as well as a stronger fuel pump (warlboro 255 fuel pump is wat i have in my turbo set up)
Another factor your are gonna have to think about is are u going to go inteer solled or none intercooled. IF inteercooled what type of intercooler top mount, side mount, and front mount or te more common intercoolers. I recomond front mount. also intercooler piping whic h is one of the more expensive componts to a turbo kit.
Now when boosting if u run to much boost u will snap a rod and damage a piston. do to the fact your compresion is way to high so YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORS INTERNALS IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING ALOT OF BOOST. do not forget that.

i own a shop, and I'm not 100% positive ,but it think the 3.0 will bolt right up to it,and as far as the turbo goes if you could find all the necessary stuff to do it with it would work, the engine wouldn't take it too long but it would work, good luck hope this helps.

the avenger is built on the same platform as the eclipse/talon so you might be able to swap an engine from the GST/GSX... there are even avengers out there that have been converted to AWD

I'm not sure about the second part but my husband says that you can put turbo on any car! May have to be self fabricated. (custom fit it)
