A railroader would have made them nine cars each. A lot simpler and quicker.

Rule #1: Make it easy on your self.

Rule #2: Never stand when can sit.

Rule #3: Never walk when you can ride.

Rule #4: Overtime pays the most.

Rule #5: If you are on a train and see your engineer outside your window yelling, "Jump! Jump!", it's going to be a bad day.

the equation would be:

x + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) + (x+4) = 45
5x + 10 = 45
x = 7

Therefore the first train has 7 cars.

take 45 pennies. arrange in five lines of _____ (45/5)

The center line you leave alone, you move ONE from the FIRST stack to the left of center (2nd stack)to the FIRST stack on the right of center(fourth stack) ... then you move TWO from the SECOND stack left of center (first stack) to the SECOND stack right of center (5th stack).

Now count them and the answer is the smallest stack
