I'm 18 and about 15-20 pounds overweight. I can't get motivated enough to stick to excersing everyday. i do for about three days and then feel like I haven't accomplished anything and then I quit. I try to eat less. I can't go on a full diet because we have super low income to buy all the right stuff. Although don't suggest doing anything with friends because I don't have any. I have been asking a couple of questions on here just to try to figure out what kind of things I could do. So does anyone have any suggestions on sticking with it?

It's a vicious cycle isn't it...

My advice is try to eat "better" more natural foods and weed out the sweets and unnatural foods. If you truly become interested in *how your body works and what it needs to operate (not that you have to be a bio-chemist by any means), you will start to build a motivational factor to drive from.

You might be on super-low income, but I would argue economically junk food costs more than most "natural" foods. For example, soda does nothing but dehydrate you and costs about $1-2 per liter. A banana is one fruit (of many) that provides substance that I can buy for $.29 per banana. Think quality of food over quantity and your body will take care of itself.

(also, drink more water, and let your exercise be something simple at first as walking 10 minutes a day)

motivation comes from within, and it's a very personal thing.
i'm not overweight, and people say i look fine (by american standards), but i always feel like i would be happier if i was skinnier.

i went back to china last summer, and many people made very open remarks about me being chubby (i was 5'3.5 and 125 pounds). of course, they dont mean to be mean, but i still feel the pressure to lose some extra fat.

this summer, i'm planning on going back again, and i want to be 115 lb. (i gained some pounds since school started)

i am going to eat less and exercise more (and drink lots of water)...

so, i have 17 weeks to lose 20 or so pounds... it will be hard since i love eating baked stuff... but the whole thing motivates me. personally, i think this time it will work... because i know i really want it.

i have heard that some people lose weight for their bf/gf... or their health... and even though /sometimes/ thats not very smart... you know whether you're doing the right thing from your heart.

so set a goal for yourself... and just stick to it... for your health AND self image. both are very important!!

good luck :] i will be right with you ^^

Well, certain songs make me feel like dancing / moving. Download and burn a favorite cd. Have your alarm on your cell phone or alarm clock go off at a certain time when you are mostly motivated with your favorite cd in it as they now make alarms that play cd's.

Another thing, do your workout before your household chores as once you finish working out, your energy level will be up along with your metabolism and allow more energy to finish your household chores where if you do your chores first, you are feeling a little tired and blue so you won't feel motivated to workout.

Try different workouts from Yoga, Kickboxing, water arobics to pilates and karate. One will make you feel better and that's the one you should stick to but it takes a while to find the one you like most that motivates you. Kickboxing is my motivation. I think about my ex and kicking his butt, that really gets me motivated. lol

Try loving yourself more. I mean unconditionally. As you are without changing for one week.

tell your little inside voice that you love it without conditions for one week. do not give up on telling that part of you that you love it. That it doesn't need to change.

soon, very soon, you will find that loving yourself and not trying to hate / yell at/ abuse yourself with food or words, will have an amazing impact.

try white lighting (loving) every bit of food you put in your mouth. It is amazing what lightening the food actually does.

This is not crazy talk. I would like to bet that you have trouble maintaining these two simple concepts. Maintain them and I guarantee you , you will have a weight loss story to tell the world.

Love yourself. Completely. the paradox is, that by not needing to change (hating yourself), you will change. Acceptance is the key. Let me know how you get on.

Nobody can motivate you but you. Try aerobics classes, at least that is something scheduled that you have to attend. Give it time and you will see results. It takes about a month to build a habit, so exercise for a month and it will become a part of your routine. How important is this to you? If it realy is something you want to do, you will do it.Once you see some results (give it at lesat a week) you will get even more motivatred.

Portion control. Live normally, but eat less than usual. If you still feel hungry, try mint chewing gum - the mint makes you feel more satisfied, and helps remove hunger pangs. Also, don't eat late at night - keep it at least 4 hours before you go to bed.
