I am planning on going on a cruise, and will be docking in St. Maarten and some other islands nearby. I have been told that when your ship docks, immigration on each island won't stamp or even check your passport. However, I like to collect different passport stamps, and want to know if there is a way I can get my passport stamped if I made a quick visit to the immigration office at each dock? Has anyone ever done this? Any feedback would be truly appreciated.

The ship DOES NOT confiscate your passport. Just look for customs. They will stamp it for you.

I cruised the South Pacific and in the harbour terminals of islands like New Caledonia and Vitu Levu, There are information stalls provided by the local government which stamped my passport. Look out for them!

The problem is that the ship will confiscate your passport for the duration of the voyage and I don't think that there is any way of getting round this problem, unless you have two passports!
