Your best bet is not to diet, but to completely make over how you eat and start eating healthy! A diet is a temporary solution and the results will not last. By changing your eating habits to just plain eating healthy it will last a life time. First cut out the butter and oil and other high fat foods. Eat lots of veggies and fruits and lean protein. Portion control and balanced eating is also very important. The magazine " Weight Watchers" is very informative and has guided me a lot.

A good idea before going on a diet is first see your doctor
for a complete checkup. I don't like the word diet. Just
eat healthy, balanced meals. Stay away from sweets,
fried foods, and fast food. Turkey, chicken, moderate
amount of meat, lots of fresh veggies and fruit is the way to
go! Watermelon is a good dessert and it fills you up. Stay away from white bread and switch to whole grain. Cut the fat from your diet.
Don't use butter. Heart healthy spreads are better. A slice
of pizza is fine occasionally but just one once in a while.
Most important if you drink soda STOP!!! A small glass
of ginger ale is fine if you must have soda. Keep away
from diet soda it's loaded with sodium and that retains
fluid. Don't skip breakfast. A breakfast that includes a
protein will prevent you from getting hungry too soon
and it will jumpstart your metabolism to burn fat! There's
one hard fast rule for anyone trying to lose weight. Don't
overthink it and don't deprive yourself too much. If you
really need something sweet eat a couple of mini
3 Musketeer bars. It's got 45% less fat than other choc.
bars. Make sure you don't overdo the sweets because
that's what spikes your insulin levels and not only do you
end up craving more sweets but you will feel hungry sooner..
A good snack is a glass of V8 juice and some plain
crackers and low fat yogurt is also a great snack! Hope this helps......works for me!

Foods you eat may depend on the diet. For instance, someone on the Southbeach Diet would not eat the same foods as someone on the Atkins' Diet.
If you go on the Atkins' Diet, there is basically one rule of thumb: the darker the better. The darker the vegetables, berries, etc., the better it is for this diet. Little to no carbohydrates are also a constituent.
However, wihle all these diets work right now, they do not work in the long run. In order to remain on a healthy diet, you must not cut yourself from too much of the "guilty" pleasures you used to eat, you have to ween yourself off.
The best foods for a diet are fruits, vegetables, and yogurts. Berries and darker vegetables (such as spinach compared to iceberg lettuce) will also help. It is also good every now and then to reward yourself with one of your "sin" foods. However, it is not all about WHAT you eat as opposed to HOW MUCH of it you eat. Diets are all about portions, so I wish you the best of luck with your diet! :)

Lots and lots of veggies. Be cautious of fruit as they usually have a high sugar content and cause spikes in blood sugar which causes an insulin response to store fat. Meats are also good. Then there are foods called thermogenics which cause your body to metabolise faster. Good thermogenic foods are apple-cider vinegar, and hot foods like cayenne pepper. Cinammon is also good.

What I suggest is to limit the amount of carbs you intake, drink lots of water, stay away from pop, beer, unatural fruit juices, decrease amount of sugar intake. Eating alot of fish is realy heathly as well, like salmon. Nuts, veggies, fruit and salads are very heathly to eat as well.
