I am aware that cockroaches will not be affected by radiation but will die from the heat of a nuclear blast.What other species can survive radiation?Are there any species which can even survive the heat from a nuclear blast?

I am willing to bet the bacteria lining thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean won't have much to worry about.

Apart from Food and Water, I have everything else I need in my loft or shed; Camping Equipment, Fishing Equipment, 1st Aid Kits etc, Shotgun & Cartridges. Tools If I can't kill or catch to eat then it is ram raid a shop. Water? Same again, or use spring water. Only problem would be finding an electricity supply so I could watch Ray Mears videos!!

Depends how big the war is. Where is happens and how many and how big the nukes. It the U.S. and Russia shot off everything they have I don't think anything would be unaffected.

Sure. As long as they aren't caught in the actual explosion, bactieria can do just fine.

At ground zero, anything organic that can burn will burn. No know organism could survive that.
