My family isn't 'Christian'. I became a follower (albeit a poor one) when I was 15. It stemmed from the realization that my life, up until that point, had been completely empty and meaningless. Then, I found meaning, and Truth.
In Love

Winston Churchill is quoted, "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."
Christianity is simply the best way of all those that I have tried. It has more archeology, more transcripts and more fulfilled prophecy to back it up than ANY other religion. It also has GRACE, the simple gift of forgiveness. God has offered us nothing but love and forgiveness. Why would I give that up?
Sure, Christians are not perfect, far from it, but the message is marvelous. The reason Christians are not perfect is because we, like everyone else, are imperfect and weak human beings. We do our best, but we sometimes let our bad sides out. There are also many young Christians, who in their strong desire to defend God end up wounding his lost children. But, the message is true and good. It is about light and peace and joy. It saddens me that this message is lost sometimes in a misguided desire to protect the faith.
Remember Christians, "our struggle is not against flesh and blood..."

This is the answer I used on a previous question, which was almost exactly the same as this one:
I'll start off by stating that I am 17, and that my family has always been the family that goes because they know it is right, but not because of any fervor. Slowly, we stopped going all together, when my dad had to start working on Sundays (he is the stronger one of my parents). Last year, a preacher who my family used to be great friends with became preacher to a local church again (he moved away to start a new church and it was already taking off, so he moved back) so we started going there, but once again without passion. I decided to go to Student Life Camp with the church youth group, and the experiences there changed me. One night the guest preacher preached on repentance, using Revelation 2:1-7. I decided to re-dedicate my life (I accepted Christ and was baptized many years ago). Ever since, I have been living for the Lord.

I was born in a Christian/agnostic family. I know Christ existed because there is historical evidence outside the bible. The bible, unfortunately, has been edited and reedited many times, so the truth of much of it has been lost to time, see Dead Sea scrolls. However the basics of how to treat each other are clearly spelled out, The Golden Rule. I believe in God, Christ, but not any church.

There doesn't seem to be any real reason to not be a christian. There is fellowship with like minded people, a sense of purpose and comfort for lifes troubles. There is a real sense of community and belonging.
And it may suprise you that religious belief doesn't really interfere with a normal day to day life, full of the hum drum and minutae that fills every life. Just think of me as an atheist with that little something extra that sometimes comes up but mostly is just background.

I became a christian in a good way, I grew up catholic and when I got engaged to my high school sweet heart( never married though) I and my family wanted me to get married in a catholic church, and his family didnt. Well we ended up doing a marriage compatibility test and I didnt approve of there reasons to do it. Anyways, I suffered from Anxiety attacks from when I was in kindergarten on and when I got saved as a christian and started going to church my anxiety subsided. God is great in so many ways. I remain a christian because there is so much love and protection from God that its an endless feeling. He hears your prayers and guides you in his direction, what more in life can you want? then to have endless love???
Oh and I consider myself a christian because I believe that the lord jesus was born to die for our sins.

I was born into a Christian family, although I've had plenty of opportunities to leave the faith (my family really fell off the bandwagon for a while), I've decided to continue.
I remain a Christian because the message of serving your fellow man appeals to me. I have tremendous respect for Jesus--even if you don't accept his Divinity or role as the son of God, you can agree he was an amazing figure who offered groundbreaking ideas. I think the path Jesus sets out for us is an honorable one, and so I remain Christian to stick to that path as best I can.

first, to answer assuming your question is not serious -
Why?: Because
or
Why?: Why not?
I had, and have since had, pain with no help provided by anyone. I've been hopeless. I have felt unloved and alone (although I wasn't). Jesus helped keep me alive and interested in seeking out truth.
He revealed himself to me by helping with the pain, giving me hope, loving me and keeping me company. These things, and more, are promised to those who seek him out - Jer. 29:11 is one of my favorite Biblical references.
So many times He has supported me and given me hope. His yoke is easy. He has a plan for the lives of His creation. He gives direction. He gives meaning to an otherwise hopeless and meaningless existence. He is my Master and his yoke is easy.
Sorry to further bore you, but He has a plan for you too. I hope you choose Him. The deeper you dig, the deeper He gets. There are so many flaws to mans wisdom, and He brings mans wisdom low. With a humble heart, I pray that my life will glorify Him, because He has done SO much.

I was not raised in a Christan family, quite the opposite. I at a very young age began to have dreams of The Lord.
not knowing nothing about God or Jesus ect. and not having a bible in our house one night in a motel room I read a Gideon bible it really came alive to me and my life was never the same. as I got older God began to move in my life, I have seen so many miracles and blessings of God in my life I could not imagine life or eternity without him.
He is so real to me, only if you know God as I do (not religion but God) will you understand.
