There are a number of possibilities which could eliminate humanity:

Asteroids
Comets
Plagues
Super Volcanos
Global Warming
Nuclear War
Black Hole coming through the universe and swallowing us

or

a Societal breakdown caused by (a) food shortages (b) diminishing resources (c) all of the above.

Of all of these I'd say the most likely TODAY is NUCLEAR WAR. 10, 20, 30 or 100 years down the road I bet my best guess would change to one of the other choices.

FINALLY: who cares.

In some distant time the sun is going to burn out but if we make it that far I would think humans would be out in space somewhere.

Read the Bible and you will find out. Vague? Be real I guess you havent read it. And for seeing Jesus I see His work and word everyday so I know He is real. Perhaps you have been reading small passages in Mark about end time. Check out the last book titled Revelation. If you think that its vague you may want to check for a pulse because you may be dead. Peace out.....

If by "the world" you mean the human race, that's an open question. My optimistic side says that mankind will evolve into extremely long-lived creatures, perhaps a combination of biological and artificial (yes, I regard that as positive!) and will escape the confines of Earth & spread out into the Cosmos. My pessimistic side says that stupidity combined with deadly technology, i.e. nuclear & other weapons of mass destruction, will cause our demise.

However, whatever the human scenario, Earth will survive until our sun goes into its red giant phase in a few billion years, expands outward and burns Earth to a crisp. If my optimistic scenario holds for mankind, it will have escaped long before then.

Lets see. Styrofoam from McDonalds was what I first heard. Then it went from Ice Age to Global warming to Pandemic. Nuclear proliferation sounds plausible. But the Bible teaches this is a World Without End.

First the Rapture. God will take all the believers in a twinkling of an eye (they'll all be gone). Then for a time he lets the devil have his reign and people can then again choose who they wish to follow (mark of the beast). Jesus will then return to set up his reign on earth. That is when those with the mark will be banished from earth along with Satan. Otherwise known as the world's end.

There is no Biblical ending. The Bible states that the world will continue, to be a home for the righteous.
(PSALM 37:9) “For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.”

(PSALM 37:11) “But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”

(PSALM 37:29) “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.”

(PSALM 37:34) “Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].”

The world will not actually end. When Christ returns to banish Satan and his followers, the world will be transformed into the Garden of Eden like it was before sin entered into man.

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49)
