By itself, that is true, if you drink enough of it. It will add calories to your diet.

There is only one way to become stronger: work out. Weight training is the best way, combined with running/jogging in order to increase your endurance (ever see a bodybuilder stop, wheezing, on the stairs because weight training was the only thing he did? It's not a pretty sight).

Go to a gym, get yourself some advice on safe weight training, and do all that you can. Start slowly, keep it up, adn don't expect to see results for a couple of months. When you do, you'll be pleased.

Protein shakes are overrated. You can only use a certain amount of protein per day, and it's not that much, between 60 and 70 grams per day, even if you work out. This you can get from a well-balanced diet. Any more than that, and your body turns it in to fat and stores it.

So, eat right, work out, run, and you'll be stronger.

Man that's a good question. Well I used protein mix and really what it helped me build was muscle mass, but the muscle mass was needed to build up more strength. Strength was something that I conditioned myself in attaining by terms of repetition and weight.
