The great Michelangelo found his peace with God and died at a full, ripe age. Coincidentally, a politician died at exactly the same time as he did. As they were chatting about all the good times they had in the mortal world, the pearly gates came into view. Saint Peter looked up from the desk in front of the gates, jumped up in ecstasy, and cried out,
"He's here! Eveyone, HE IS HERE!!!"
All the angels of heaven burst open the gates, and with the trumpets blaring a glorious fanfare, the politician was lifted onto the shoulders of the angels and hoisted into heaven. Michelangelo was completely ignored, and the holy gates were slammed in his face.
The great artist went up to Saint Peter, crying in confusion, "What is the meang of this?! I have served God all of my life, giving him glory, and blessing his Earth with my talents! Why is it that I am outstripped of my status by, of all people, a Politician?!"
Saint Peter apologised profusely, saying "I'm very sorry. You see, we have many God-fearing artists here in heaven. But this is our first politician."
