this is true, the dominant cat is called the Alpha cat and is normally the first one to enter the household, but this role can be taken by a naturally aggressive cat. They work that out themselves, it can be very interesting to watch.

Cats are actually loners; when put together, hopefully, they will develop a heirarchy that allows them to get along. However, of my five cats, I have one that refuses to get along with anyone at all. All the others have worked out their places.

Yeah, its really neat to observe. I have two cats. The older one is of course the leader and the younger one is his adoring follower who admires and copies everything he (the older cat) does: how to eat, how to sleep, how to position the butt in the litter box, how to get mama's immediate attention).

I have three cats myself....two female scottish folds and a male turkish van...the male is the "teacher" of the three...my youngest scottish fold has practically picked up his "bad" habits...lol...it's hilarious but on the same token, it's very annoying. wouldn't live without'em though

when I had my kittens the headcat in charge was evil. He would run after the kids and start problems but would keep the frisky younger one in line. lol. I have dogs now. They are calmer but more work is involved now but I love them to death.
