if your getting off one of the peirs on the west side of Manhattan you will be right near Times square. your cab ride will be short. or sometimes the cruise line offers free shuttle service

My advice is to take a taxi to your hotel. You would not want to try using a pubic bus with your bags; it will be crowded and you will not get any help bringing your luggage up the bus steps. You could get mugged. Same for the subway because you would also have to negotiate steps, turnstiles, and big crowds.

Cruise lines normally will provide, for a fee, transportation to and from airports before and after cruises. You need to be aware that there are a couple different places that cruise lines come into New York city area. The Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines now has a cruise port in Bayonne, New Jersey for its NY cruises. That port is across the river from Manhattan and a long cab ride to downtown NY. When we cruised out of NY we arranged for van service to pick us up are take us to the port and back to the city. You can probably do this also. The other cruise lines use a port on the West side of Manhattan and that should be an easy taxi ride to your hotel.

Take a cab. You don't want to handle luggage on a subway or bus. Maybe some one from the cruise ship will split a cab with you.

Enjoy New York
