I am a green card holder here in the US and has a Philippine passport. Do I need a visa to travel to canada for a month? What other requirements should I need. By the way, can I apply for a US passport even if I am not a US citizen? Thank you all. Really appreciate it.

The above 2 answers are wrong. As a permanent resident (green card holder) in the US, you do not need a visa to come to Canada. Just bring your green card and phillipines ppt.

Straight from the Canada Immigration website:

Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

- persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence.

As for your second question, unfortuntely, you cannot apply for a US ppt until you are a citizen.

If you need a visa to visit Canada from the Philippines, then you need to get a visa, even though you have a U.S. "green card". Your citizenship is still with the Philippines.

As far as getting a U.S. Passport, you have to be a citizen of the U.S. in order to get a U.S. Passport. Permanent Residency does not qualify you for a passport.

Yes, a Canadian visa is necessary to enter.

Another requirement is a valid photo ID (such as your current passport) and supporting papers that prove that you will return to your country of origin after the visa expires.

As for the US passport application, there is a longer wait than usual. Best to apply the soonest that you can.
