Why is it that we're able to put a man on the moon, make a car that breaks the sound barrier, spilt uranium to make nuclear bombs but the only way to check if you have a healthy prostate is by a doctor sticking his hand up your *ss?

It's not the only way, as PSA levels are also used to measure prostate status.

I think you just prefer the digital rectal examination :)

If You get symptoms of prostate problems, you will wish that somebody had stuck his finger up your **ss earlier and yuo would have been able to treat and stem what can become a real problem. Symptoms are Full bladder, but not being able to empty completely. Leakage when you least expect it. urgency to peewhen not expected . Stop start flow and limited volume. frequent trips to toilet at night. At this point you may be asked to take a PSA test ( a simple blood test ) or you may be asked to undergo an ultrasound with a full bladder, and due to your condition, this can become very stressful and you may become anxious. If there is no cancer , then you may be a victim of BPH and then you will undergo an operation which entails the surgeon putting an instrument down the eye of your penis and then he will be cutting away the area affected. This could leave you sterile, as he cuts the seminal tubes in order to allow enough area for you to urinate properly. You may have to go back, and a rod inserted to remove some scar tissue. You might want to rethink your attitude to someone testing your prostate, that test could save your life, or at least some very embarrassing and uncomfortable procedures. Good Luck with Your Ego .

Ultrasound scanning informs about prostate but finger up a** informs the doctor
1)if prostate is infected(you cry when the doctor presses it)
2)if prostate is benign (it feels smooth and compressible).
3)if it is cancerous(feels hard and immobile)
The doctor has to literally "massage" the prostate to get the secretions of the gland coming through urethra and examining the contents under microscope and culturing the contents are very useful for diagnosis.

He sticks his whole hand up there? Ouch! The doctor has several ways of checking the prostate, but the physical exam is one of the best ways. It takes about 5 seconds.

Don't whine. How would you like to be a women with metal objects jammed into your...well...you know and be poked and prodded, as well as being given a rectal exam to check the internal organs. I really don't want to hear it. Just bend over and take it like a man.

the doc could put his hand up your peehole if you want, but that would be even more uncomfortable

and also, the lady was talking about things going in her OTHER than your penis, and also OTHER than her anus, there's a thing they have called a vagina! (babies come out of there you know) so feel yourself lucky we don't have exams involing stuff being shoved up OUR front bits

its a finger or two, not a whole hand. also, blood tests can yield health information on your prostate, though its not as effective as the actual prostate exam.

The quickest and cheapest way to initially check is to palpate that gland. Internal exam is the way!
