Why don't you just let us believe whatever we want, and stop criticizing our beliefs?

I'm not saying all Atheists do that , but most do..

Because some Atheists are indeed hateful, just as some members of any group are. I must say that some Christians really need to drop the victim act. You speak as though many Christians on this site alone haven't been rude or condescending towards other religions or groups. It goes both ways, and you and some other Christians seem to forget that. It's hypocritical.

I think that athesists are just asking about choices that people have made bacause they are interested. Many have, over the course of their lifetimes, have been presented with the religions of their families, friends, communities, countries and local social norms. They have found that these doctrins and beliefs don't speak to them and they wonder why as they seem to speak to others.

Religion is a big part of community lifestyle espically in the US. So when an atheist comes accross a different religious perspective they are naturally interested and my ask critical questions of the theist in the same way they critically explored their own beliefs and feelings.

Many theists have been endoctrinated into their religions from early childhood and accepted these doctrins easily. Many have never really considered changing to a different religion or they change to something only slightly different from the religions of their parents. They feel no need to anyalize their beliefs because they already like what they are doing. Many have strong encouragement NOT to think about their doctrin very much as religious authoritys and families seem to think that anylization leads to the discovery of inconsistenses.

When an atheist talks to you about your religion, they may say something like, "But, how can you believe this or that because over here it says something completely different!" What they are really saying is "how can I believe that?"

Let's face it; there are some massave contridictions and disagreements in most of the world's religions. But the atheist is not CRITISIZING you. They are using CRITICAL thinking skills to find logic in the doctrins of the religion.

When the theist feels attacked and cannot provide logical explanitions to the questions, it then reinforces the atheists view that theists don't really have a reason for their beliefs.

Likewise, Why do Christians criticize other religious beliefs? Why dont you let people believe in their religion without the need for conversion?
Of course, Im not speaking for all Christians, but most do...

If people would keep their religious beliefs to themselves, then I would. But they don't. They want everyone to believe the same way they do, like it or not. That is why they are trying to get religious beliefs made into laws, like prayer in schools, forbidding abortion and gay marriage. All of these things, and others, are based on religion. If you want me to leave you alone, return the favor. Stay out of things that aren't your business, like other people's marriages, and we will all be a lot happier.

Because your beliefs let you think you can pass laws to keep my friends from getting married. Your beliefs are killing millions in Africa from the spread of AIDS and no condom use. Your beliefs keep me from running for public office in my own state. Your beliefs make it hard for me to get necessary health care just because I'm a woman. Your beliefs are unfounded, but you think they are all you need to stop the progress of science. That's why we're criticizing you. Someone has to.

If you are looking at the sky and it is blue ,then someone tells you that you are wrong because they see a yellow sky .
One has to set the individual straight and tell them that they need help .They are seeing something that is not there .
That basically is what Atheists do .
If it isn`t there and can`t be contacted ,then why believe it . "The Proof shall set you free."

Because Christians so readily promote their beliefs in direct contradiction to reality, forcing those of different viewpoints to deal with the resulting nonsense.
