your glove should never wear out if you have the proper grip. however, my glove wear out about every 6-8 monthes due to dirt, sweat, and of course friction. and i practise almost everyday.
if you have the proper grip, the first part to wear out should be around the joints of your fingers, not your thump or pulm. we all know that we should grip the clubs with our fingers.
just see how Tiger taps his finger joints... not his thump or pulm

If you have 1. the proper grip and 2. the proper grip tension. The glove will wear out due to getting dirty and stiff from sweat. Not from the abrasion of the club grip. Most recreational golfers will wear out the spot on the palm below the thumb of the glove.

Small2iv has it right. You should be holding the club in the fingers of your glove hand, but you shouldn't be holding it so tightly that it wears out. If your gloves is wearing out in the palm, you are holding the club incorrectly.

it should wear out down the pinky line by your rist, in line with your thumb. that is where the club pivots, or should pivot, during a swing.
