DAO = Double Action Only = Each squeeze of the trigger both moves the hammer back compressing the hammer spring and then releases the hammer to fire the weapon

Traditional = Double Action - Single Action The first pull of the trigger both moves the hammer back compressing the hammer spring and then releases the hammer to fire the weapon, every subsequent firing cycle the hammer is already back in the ****** position, the hammer spring is compressed, the only action the trigger does is release the sear to release the hammer and fire the weapon.

Single action (semi-auto): This requires the hammer to be to co*ked (sorry, Yahoo will censor that word if its not starred) before firing. This is found on the 1911's they offer, like all 1911 models. It has only one single action trigger pull, and the slide as it cycles co*ks the hammer for each additional shot.

Double action - single action (traditional double action): The gun can be fired with the hammer in the down position - the double action/long trigger pull will draw the hammer back as you pull the trigger (it is heavier than a single action pull). Once the sear breaks the hammer will fall, firing the gun - and when the slide cycles a new round into the chamber, it will co*k the hammer so the gun is now in single action mode, with a single action trigger pull and weight.

Double action only ("safe action"): The gun has either an internal firing mechanism, or a stubbed snag proof external hammer (for concealed carry). The hammer/firing mechanism is uncocked (down), and when you pull the trigger, the firing mechanism retracts, then fires when the sear breaks. The gun will cycle, but the mechanism will return to the uncocked position. All trigger pulls will be long and heavy double action.

DAK: This is a special double action Sig offers. Pretty much works the same as standard double action, with a few changes - its consistent, smooth, and is 6.5 pounds on the nose.

Available actions are: Double action on the first shot only and double action for every shot.

On first shot double actions: Pulling the trigger cocks the hammer and trips it initiating the firing process; then the hammer remains ****** and will fire each time the trigger is pulled with much less pressure since the hammer remains ******.

Double action every shot (also known as 'double-action-only'):

The trigger cocks the hammer and trips it each individual time you pull the trigger to shoot the gun. Every shot requires the same amount of pressure. The hammer does NOT remain ****** after the gun is shot; it cocks with every pull of the trigger.

Hope that helped.
