My dog is a 8ry old black lab. I found a wooden splinter in her leg, and have removed it, but the swelling in not going down.
I've iced her leg, and soaked in epsom salts, and the swelling goes down, but comes back withing a half hour of so. Do you think she's okay?

You need to get her to the Vet As soon as possible (In the Morning first thing?).

My Guess is either theres more of the splinter is in there or it is infected.

If swelling and or pain gets to bad you may want to find a 24-Hour Vet ASAP.

Praying -

Matt

Hopefully your sure it is a splinter and not a bee sting!? A bee sting may stay swollen for a day or so and then go away with out much treatment. If it is a splinter you just noticed and the leg continues to stay swollen you could try some over the counter antibiotics from the pet store. If that doesnt help after 24 hr of med then youd better take her to the vet. Ps. this advice is only if the dog is otherwise acting, eating and breathing normally. If not take her to the vet asap.

Take her to a vet as soon as humanly possible.
It sounds like your dog has an infection.
Localised infections can be treated with antibiotics and time, as well as regular cleaning of the infected site.
However, if the infection taints the blood, then your pooch may be in serious trouble. Blood poisoning through the spread of infection can be fatal to all creatures, so get your dog to the vet quickly.
In the meantime, just keep an eye on the infection and try and keep her comfortable.

I hope she gets better soon!

Keep doing what you're doing. By morning if it's not any better take her to the vet...the splinter may have broken off & is still there causing the irritation/swelling.
