The Roman empire got too big...It became hard for them to keep control and it eventually fell apart.

Rome actually fell apart from the inside. There was political strife not unlike what we see in our own Congress, and the military had been spread all over the world to hold occupied areas. The barbarian immigrants evetually got sick of being treated poorly and sacked Rome. The city tried to rebuild but the Empire was spread so thin and the politics were so messy that it really did just fall apart at the seams.

Romans hired mercenaries to fight their wars. Rome decayed from with in. The complete amoral society, abominations, total disregard for life.

there are many theories, some say the spread of chritianity weakened the pagan core which was inherent in their development, some say they had bad credit and the debasement of money led to alot of "bad credit" people left for greener pastures, some say the empire was spread to thin and people broke off one by one (this was compounded by the fact that many "Romans" weren't really Roman at all), some say lead poisoning caused widespread madness, the best way to find out is to read a book and decide for yourself.
