I refered to both of my grandfathers as Papaw. My dad didn't want to be called that, he wanted to be called Paw. So that's what my kids call him. Sometimes I call him Pop. My husband has grandkids and they all refer to him as Papaw. I guess it's a country thing. Congrats on becoming a grandfather!!!

Children have a way of inventing names for grandparents. Just refer to yourself as 'Grandpa' and your little one will soon give you an unique name that will be you alone.

My oldest daughter who is 4 couldn't say grandpa when she was younger so she called my grandpa (her great-grandpa) Brampa. To this day she still calls him that even though she can say grandpa. I guess she just likes it. My cousin used to call this same grandpa Pita when she was little. I think both of these names our cute. I hope this helps.

If he's a grandfather, he probably already has a name. My grandfather's name was Ralph but I called him Gramps.

My mother is Italian, and my kids call her "Nona."
My father decided he didn't want to be called anything until one of the grandkids came up with a name. My daughter just reversed the syllables, so he ended up being a "Nano."

My sons call Grampa by the name "Buddy". Bud, Bud, Buddy was what we always hear the kids say. After all are they not the best of Buddies.

My father's name is Glen. All the grandkiddies call him Papa Glen. He loves it. Also maybe Pop's. Ask him what he'd prefer to be called.
