We sometimes made our own baskets, if not, we used a bowl. We would set it out the night before and yea! Easter Morning we had them all filled to the brim
( my parents never hid them, but they would hide candy around the yard for us to find).
Easter Bunny had fun at our house!
( I did the same with our kids, filled baskets, hid some candy, they loved it. )

oh yes, I remember the excitement of the E A S T E R - B A S K E T !!!....I would make mine out of a milk carton!
I would decorate it real fancy as I thought the Easter Bunny would really like it, and thus, pour out all the best candy for me because of the lovely basket I made. lol.
We did not hunt for eggs, I think one year an egg didn't get found and later one of us kids found it and ate it, and got really sick....after that, no more hiding eggs!!! HA!
