There is such as taking too many vitamins esp. if they are fat soluble. The surplus that is not absorbed into your body is stored in your fat cells.
Water soluble vitamins are different and can also cause harm if you consume too many.
The surplus is transported out of your body .
In large doses some vitamins have documented side effects. Vitamin side effects tend to increase in severity with increasing dosage. The likelihood of consuming too much of any vitamin from food is remote, but overdosing from vitamin supplementation does occur. At high enough dosages some vitamins cause side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting.[17][9] Unlike some of the side effects caused by drugs, vitamin side effects rarely cause any permanent harm.[18] When vitamin side effects emerge, recovery is often accomplished by reducing the dosage. Furthermore, the concentrations of vitamins an individual can tolerate vary widely, and appear to be related to age and state of health.[19] In the United States, overdose exposure to all formulations of vitamins was reported by 62,562 individuals in 2004 (nearly 80% of these exposures were in children under the age of 6), leading to 53 “major” life-threatening outcomes and 3 deaths[20]-- a small number in comparison to the 19,250 people who died of unintentional poisoning of all kinds in the U.S. in the same year (2004).[21]
It is for these reasons that physicians and scientists carefully review the clinical data on supplement use in order to determine upper dosage thresholds for each vitamin that can be tolerated as a daily dose by the entire population without side effects. This dosage is known as the tolerable upper intake level (UL).[8]
Read the label, do the research and become an informed consumer. Know what it is you are taking and why.
The best advice is to look for foods that support healthy skin , hair and nails.
Look at gelatin animal or vegetable based. It is known for helping grow healty nails.
Horsetail for hair.

Organized conventional medicine and the pharmaceutical drug cartels are spending hundreds of millions of dollars on bogus studies attempting to discredit vitamins (natural) and herbs, and alternative medicine. Taking natural vitamins and supplements DOES NOT cause harm if the correct dosage according to the label directions is followed. Go to your local health food store and get a good natural vitamin, not the synthetic junk sold at the supermarket or the local drugstores. When you read this crap such as "taking vitamins can hurt you", you will notice that the source of the study and who funded the study are always omitted. Natural vitamin E (D-alpha),vitamin C, and Biotin are very good for hair, skin, and nails. Conventional medicine and the pharmaceutical drug cartels cause the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of people every year. If you want to remain healthy, disregard their dozens of propanganda commercial advertisements everyday on T.V. and other media.

To much of certain vitamins can hurt your body's different organs. A daily multi vitamin will not hurt you. Some people go over board and take extra vit A, K, or potassium. Which can be harmful to the liver.

Only if you take too many. Some vitamins are bad in large doses. I would take either a multi-vitamin or a prenatal vitamin only. Good Luck!

Seek medical advice before choosing your vitamin. Also too many Vits is not a good thing either, may have an effect on the liver also , I'd ask your primary doc first.

Anything you body doesn't use it will be passed out. Vitamins in moderation are good for you if you aren't getting enough from a balanced diet.
