One door, leads to eternal happines, the other door leads to complete sadness. One guard always tells the truth, but the other one always lies. You do not know which guard lies or not and which door leads to what future, but you can only ask each guard one question. What question would you ask each guard?

Oh, sorry about not putting the answer, but a lot of you got it correct: ask one guard a question with an obvious answer, then ask the other guard if the door behind them leads to eternal happines.

I would ask the first guard, "Am I dead?" If he says yes, then I'll ask the second guard, "Is this the door to eternal happiness?", if he says no then I'll know I have the right door and vice versa..

If I asked the other guard which door leads to eternal happiness, which door would that guard say?
The guard who spoke the truth would say what the guard who speaks lies would say, ie, the door which does not lead to happiness
The guard who spoke lies would say what the guard who speaks the truth would not say, ie the door which does not lead to happiness
Having got an answer, you should go through the door that the answerer did not mention.

My answer or question would be to ask any one guard "If I were to ask the other guard if this door led to eternal happiness, would he say yes?" while pointing either of the 2 doors.
Explanation: It does not matter who you ask both of their answers are the same. A reply of yes pointing to one door means that door leads to sadness, while a reply of no pointing at the same door means that door leads to happiness.

yes.....i would ask one guard if s/he is guarding the door to happiness....
and then i would ask the other guard how many thumbs i am holding up...
if the second guard i am asking speaks the truth re: my thumbs.
i know the other guard has lied about which door is guarded by him/her...
then i would enter into the happiness room by simple deduction.
now then....
thank you for such a thoughtfull question
be well

Ask them anything you already know the answer to, such as something to do with their or your own physical appearance; i.e., something that is visibly obvious to you.
The guard that gets it right is hopefully telling the truth!
Would that work, do you think?
