Canidae. You can buy it at Agways or pet supply stores. It is sold in cans and in bags, it is a very high quality food - and not recalled. I rescue dogs and always feed them nothing but Canidae.

When looking for any food {not just dog food}, look at the label. They list the ingrediants and the way it is listed is the amount in the can. If it says rice, flour, sodium glutomate, ect. then those are the main ingrediants in the can. Look for a can that lists chicken, beef, turkey, liver, ect. as the main ingrediants. Also look for something without by products. Chicken by products are the skin, feet, beak, feathers and anything else on a chicken. God only knows what's in it if it says meat by products. Skunk, squirral, possum, hippo?? Eeeewwww!
I'm not feeding my little furbaby that stuff. Right now she is eating Castor & Pollux and some homemade stuff. She usually gets organic fruit for treats. She loves them freeze-dried or frozen.

Walmarts Old Roy Beef chunks dinner Hearty loaf. A very good dog food, without the fillers and the fact that the "Beef" is listed first indicates that the beef is the highest percentage of meat in the feed. No matter the brand, if it says Fillet Mignon broth that's what you have "the broth" being the highest percentage. Whatever is listed first is the dominant ingredient. So for food value for the money I think Old Roy's is a great product and it's made by the same people who make Iams and Nutro. However this particular type was not on the recall list.

I think Dick VanPatten's Natural Balance makes a canned food. Maybe Innova, Wellness, Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul? They're all great foods, I'm just not sure if they make canned. Google them...

We have started making our dog’s wet food. I know it sounds so "organic". We started before this scare with canned food and all 3 of our dogs are looking healthier, they don't stink as much and their breath doesn't stink. It takes a while to make, but I think you'll be happy with the results.
1 whole chicken (boiled with vegetables to make a good broth for you to use when cooking for yourself) boil for about an hour for best broth – de-bone chicken
1 container of chicken livers (boiled in a separate pot) boil for about 45 minutes
Make oatmeal using 3 cups dry oats and 6 cups water
Combine chicken, livers and oatmeal in a food processor and there you have dog food. I combine the homemade food with dry dog food. This usually lasts us about a week feeding 3 small/medium dogs.

we use to feed Alpo...and i keep a can handy now case i run out or something.... but our dogs get lots of table scraps and stuff that i would toss if did not have a dogs....i don't give any cooked bones..or pork like a pork chop...ham can be a big no no to...
acctually tonight we had a chicken from wal-mart "southern hens" i believe was the name or something like that it was the grossed chicken i've ever eaten..dogs thought it was great so it was cheap and thats what i'm going to start buying and boiling and picking for them..instead of can.
it ends up being cheaper then can food..and it don't have fillers like dog food does. also i give raw beef soup bones and smoked pig ears, ribs, leg bones..etc.. from the butcher... also better for a dog. they get some left over veggies tossed sometimes to....
good luck in ur search...still doing mine...
