You should use tearless DOG shampoo. Dogs don't have the same PH balance as people so you should not use people shampoo on dogs. Its not good for their coat or skin. If you are really worried and since they pup is so yound you can even get dog eyedrops, so if you do decide to use a people shampoo, you can wash his eyes out afterwards.

I have Shih Tzu's and my believes are way different that some. I don't let my puppies out side until they are 8 weeks old. They use a wee wee pad.. well at least they try to use a wee wee pad lol they miss more than they get on it lol. I don't give them a bath until after they are 8 weeks old.. but I do wipe them down with puppy wipes, or dry shampoo for puppies. Make sure you dry your puppy real good. They get really chilled at that age. My Shih Tzu's are only 2 pounds when they are six weeks old, so that makes a big difference.

If he is just dirty, let him dry and then brush him with a short, soft bristle brush. Take special care of his nose wrinkle, a warm wash cloth to gently clean the crease and thoroughly dry it! Then apply a thin thin bit of vaseoline with a Q-tip swab. If you don't watch the wrinkle they will get a fungus in there cause the air can't get in and it will get sore and stink. The tears roll down there and Pugs have lots of tears because of the bulbous eye's.

LoL. Aren't pugs just the greatest pets ever? You should always use puppy shampoo on pups. Human shampoo gives them dandruff!
For his wrinkles, my vet suggested peroxide on a q-tip because if you don't keep them clean, a lot of bacteria can hide out in there.
And to clean his ears, pet stores sell ear cleaning solution that you put on a cotton ball.
The vet also suggested eye drops because his eyes bulge out a bit more than other breeds, so he recommended using eye drops before and after baths.
Pugs are high maintenance but so loving and adorable. Good luck!
PS what's his name?

I've heard you shouldn't give little puppies baths for some reason. At most pet stores, they have "puppy/dog wipes" like baby wipes. This might be your best bet for now. They are great to use between baths when they get older too.

I use baby shampoo to wash my dogs with because it has conditioner in it and some are tearless. Have fun and enjoy your puppy.
