Before i go to bed, i check every door lock, and light switch. Whenever i pick things off the floor, or touch the popcorn tin full of catfood, i always wash my hands. Whenever i leave the car, i always check the door handles, and make sure the dome light is off. Whenever i leave my bedroom, i always make sure my bankbook is on the desk, the electric blanket is off, and no object is blocking the floor register. Sometimes when sitting in the house i have to go back outside to check the car doors again. When i have a hate feeling towards people or something i just let it bother me.

I had a headache a couple of months ago, and took some Excedrin. Before taking the Excedrin, i had a feeling like kill em all! After i was wondering why i was having those thoughts.

It sounds like you may be mildly OC. I'm comparing your situation against my brother's, and you don't sound anywhere close to how he is with those same things. He literally has to check the locks on the doors (house AND car) anywhere from 5-10 times in a row before he's ok with leaving things alone. Not to mention, he has to check on and around surface areas AGAIN and AGAIN to make sure he didn't leave anything behind (even if it's obvious that there's nothing sitting there). And don't get me started about going to restaurants with him--we literally sat there an extra 20 minutes the other night, just so he could make sure (5 or 6 times in a row) that every single penny on the bill was correct.
I'm actually getting irritated thinking about it, so I'd better stop. ;)
Bottom line: consider yourself lucky that you're not as bad as I described. I think I may have a mild case of OCD, as well, and I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing all the time (especially in regards to the electric blanket thing). :)

You have all the classic symptoms of OCD. The anger could well be a manifestation of depression.
The treatment is Prozac (generic fluoxetine). You are in luck because Prozac treats both OCD and depression. The typical dose is two 20mg caps or tabs in the morning, followed by 20mg before bed.
Now, Prozac is available in capsules or tablets. You will want to try both to see which is more effective for you. The pharmacist will tell you that there is no difference. True for some people, untrue for others.
Take my advice and you may vastly increase your quality of life. Best wishes.

nah.. i don't think that's anything to be worryed about! I do that sort of thing.. like after i touch money.. i don't want to touch anything else untill i've washed my hands, i always make sure the lights are turned off in all rooms that no one is in. And my parents make me cheak the door handel of the car and sometimes they will send me outside to check if it's locked... if i touched cat food, a catfood tin or even the cat i'd want to wash my hands !!

If your behaviour takes less than 1 hr. daily, it is not usually considered to be serious. Avoid Excedrin, and any other products containing caffeine (coffee, green or regular tea, Pepsi, RedBull, cocoa & chocolate) - read the labels! Also avoid Aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal, diet sodas & colas). Herbal teas like Chamomile are OK; there is a chocolate substitute made from Carob, and coffee substitutes like Caro & Ecco are OK, too. See http://familydoctor.org & Google OCD & use your search engine.

it sure sounds like OCD to me. I do the same thing with the doors, and then get up to go check again. I like certain things in certain (exact) places and positions, and it bothers me if someone moves them, I have to put them right back. It doesn't really interfere with my life, it's just part of who I am. Mine is relatively mild, and yours doesn't sound too bad, but if you check those doors 507 times, then it's time for some help.

It just sounds like your just being thorough. I know people with OCD and it doesn't sound like you have it. Get some SAM-e at Costco or Sams club. It's all natural and helps you to feel good mentally and not worry about things. It also helps your liver and joint functions. It's like Prozac, only natural.

yes repetitive actions that take on a life of their own are classic signs of OCD. If you act on them compulsively and can not stop then that is a sign of OCD.
There are medications and sometimes therapy helps control it. I would ask the advice of your Doctor. There is nothing wrong with having mental illness. It is ignorance that keeps us in the dark so ask.
