in filling out form 1040on line 43 it states that if line 42 is more than line41 enter 0 . is line42 more if line 41 is negative?

line 40 is your standard deduction (see left column on the sheet) line 40 should be subtracted from 38.

So if line 38 was 6000 and line 40 is 5150- put 850 on that line 41.

line 42 should put whatever your deductions were times 3300. so if you claimed 2, it would be 6600 on that line.

line 43 take line 42 from 41. if it is higher than 41 only put 0.

I am thinking though if you at any point went into the negative you may have to use another form. maybe 1040ez... to get it in the negative you would have had to make at least less than the standard deduction...
