I think it actually started in the 1980s. There was a book written by a guy named Richard Bach and it was called The Bridge Across Forever. It explained what soulmates were and talked about his marriage and how he felt he'd found his soulmate. It was a very magical, romantic book and made you want to run right out and find your own soulmate. At the time it came out, it was a very popular book. Everybody was reading it or had heard about it and that's when I (and probably a lot of people) first heard about soulmates.

Well in persons who believe we have many lifes just one, a soulmate it`s not just a person you really love or your bf or your husband, no it`s a person with the one you were involved in your past life, it can be a friend or anything, that`s what they call soulmates, cause they find each other in other lives, ;)
