In today's terminology they would probably be referred to as Messianic Jews, meaning that they were Jewish but that they accepted Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah, recognizing Him as the one prophesied about in the Old Testament.

They were Jews. I believe that Peter may have become the first complete Christian when he stated he would gladly follow Jesus the Christ, onto the crucifix in 67CE as Bishop of Rome. So the Romans turned his cross upside down.

That's why, when I see an inverted cross, I think of the fealty of Peter. I do not think of the inverted cross of the Satan that was invented about 1000 years later.

They were Christians, which means to be Christ-like and to follow him and all his ways. Jews are not a religion, contrary to the poular belief. Jews are actually one of the 12 tribes of Israel that is mentioned in the Bible. Jews is derived from Judah. Please read Genesis 29 and Genesis 35.

They were monothiests. Who were called Christians at Antioch. Modern day terminology we would say Oneness Pentecostals.

They started out as Jews, and became followers of Christ... thus Christians.
