Don't make it too long LOL It's the worst when it drags on, I even got bored at my OWN baby showers. Here are some good advice sites:

http://www.chiff.com/entertain/baby-shower.htm
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/72262/how_to_throw_a_baby_shower_tips_on.html
http://www.babycenter.com/baby-shower
http://ezinearticles.com/?Quick-Tips-for-a-Successful-Baby-Shower&id=32775

Those sites have a lot of great tips. As for mine personally, don't do *too many* games (3-4 at the most). If you see that the guests are having fun do a couple more. One *must* game is the ribbon around the belly game. Have everybody look at the mommy in the center of the room and go around witha spool of ribbon, have them cut off how much they think it will take to goaround the largest point of her belly. Who ever is the closest wins. The ribbon can then be attatched toa scrapbook and she can pull it out if she wants to see how big she was 20 years down the road :)
Also, at one of my baby showers the thrower had the gifts that were won during the games given back to *me* (they were stuff like rattles and photo albums)- DO NOT DO THAT. Prizes won should go to the person who won, not the expectant mother, she gets enough gifts.
Use cutesy decorations, but make sure every seat set out is accessable & facing in a way that nobody feels left out. A big circle (space permitting) is best, so everybody can hear & see what is going on.
If the mother is a stickler for thank you cards (or if she's not & you are) have somebody designated to write down every gift given and who it was from. It's much easier doing it as you go, than to try to figure it out in the end. Have that person sit close to the mom.
Take lots of pics. Make sure whoever is taking them (designate one person again) can get around throughout the shower to get the best views.

Good luck & I'm sure you will do fine :)

Well, if you are the main hostess, then you'll want to pick out a few more ladies (friends, family of the mom-to-be) to be co-hostesses. Then you can delegate who brings what to the shower. Keep the menu light, such as fresh fruits, veggies/dip, crackers, nuts, (or any other little appetizers you might like), cake, and punch. Have 1 or 2 games, but don't worry about a big schedule, most people like to be able to hang out and chat. You don't even have to have a theme if you don't want. Since it is Spring, you can do simple pastels. At my shower, my friends had a string hung up accross one side of the room and hung a few onesies and little shoes up on tiny clothespins. It looked absolutely adorable, and the little clothes were some of my gifts. Also, it is nice if you and your hostesses can all go in together on a big gift like a stroller or highchair--that is a wonderful gift for the mom! Also, here is an AWESOME pink punch recipe, and it's super easy:

Hope this helps, good luck!

Ask the mom-to-be if she likes games....me personally, I dont like them and my friends didnt make me play them!

The easiest way to come up with a theme is to use what they plan on for the nursery. That way any decorations (like stuffed animals, etc) can be used in the nursery!

Have some light foods as mentioned in the previous answers and a cake.....OR go with a trend and do cupcakes! Super cute and if you live near a Publix grocery store they do REALLY cute ones! If the mommy has a favorite food or something shes craving try to serve that. Also make sure you're not serving anything that makes her sick....pregnancy does all kinds of weird things to taste and smell.

Let everyone come in and mingle, get something to eat, do some games if you wish, and open presents....finish with a little more mingling.

Make sure you have paper and pen ready to write down all the gifts and who the gift giver was....will make thank you notes easy for the mom-to-be.

You need to have some snacks and punch also some ideas for games are; have about 8-10 diapers with different candy bars melted in them and people can guess what kinds they are and whoever gets the most right wins, another game is you pass out some yarn and every one cuts a piece depending on how big around they think the mom to be is around and the closest one wins. I have seen people do the prizes two different ways either get gifts for each winner to keep or get gifts for the mom to be and the winner of each game gets to unwrap the gift and give it to the mom to be. Have fun with it . Good Luck!

I planned a babyshower for a buddy this summer season. First verify if its gonna be a jack/jill bathe.. meaning her husband should be there as well as male travellers. actually i advise in simple terms the girls, no guy extremely enjoys a bath. have a cake, snacks, and beverages... set up on a buffet table have a present table decorate as you want, with a particular preggers pleasant chair on your sister. First the centred visitor record. communicate with one or 2 of the associates you do be conscious of and recruit them to help spread the be conscious. a facebook journey is the great way reason you are able to upload people, and really communicate via it. the associates and facebook ought to help you be conscious of who to ask. also if she doesnt sign in attempt to discreetly get a experience for what she needs and record it for the travellers, so that they be conscious of what to get. on line there are lists of like mom needs that fairly helped me for my buddy, pretty reason we did a fund and then i shopped for presents from the gang when you wouldnt have a danger to purchase and for the lads to make a contribution (all of us worked at the same time). We adorned onesies. You get a pair packs of various length white onsies and the centred visitor decorate them, so the mummy has customized presents to convey living house that she will be in a position to apply. pretty pondering how a lot little ones flow via them. We also offered a field of diapers and used them like a centred visitor e book. signing them... I definitely have the cutest image of this little infant laying in her crib with wearing a diaper i did at that bathe. And it saved the mummy smiling lengthy after the bathe. We did the babyfood flavor try and the dirty diaper sport. There are lots of websites to help imaginative juices flowing about video games. strong success
