I was currently placed on probation and and my probation officer seems to be coming up with all these different programs and groups and what not. It's getting very expensive and none of it was ordered by the judge, she's just coming up with something new every month it seems.

Today, she called my wife and asked her to come in to talk to her while I was at work. My wife went in and my P.O. proceeded to tell her my offense and showed her the police report (which she refused to show to me by the way). Anyway, nothing came out of it, because I already told my wife everything, but could this be construed as harassment, or am I crazy?

If the PO brought me all the way to the office to talk about my husband's offenses, I would send her to hell right there for wasting my time like that. I understand they have a job to do, but not to such extent when it interferes with my personal time and my personal schedule! If I chose to live with an offender, the last thing I would want to do is to consult the PO or whoever the hell else about it; it's not like I am a 5 years old child who doesn't have a clue what he/she is doing. Maybe then I should also bring the PO to my bedroom to give me the instructions of how to make me c*um in bed. ha-ha :)

Your probation officer is NOT out of line she's just doing her job! Most people don't realize that their PO is required to inform everyone who is living at there residence of why they are on probation! The question would be what did you get placed on probation for? There are Two major offenses that get lots of programs that you must attend
1. Drug offenses
2. Sex offenses
If you read your judgment it will say that you are required to attend any program ordered by the probation officer about 98% of the time. That is because the judges are rotated through their districts and do not always know the programs in the town/county/parish that they may be in at the time of conviction.

Have you considered the alternative. At least your not in jail. You have to realize that she has a lot of power over you right now, and the only way to eliminate that is to be off probation and in jail. You also must realize that you don't have all the same freedoms that you did before your conviction. In retrospect, this seems a small price to pay fo the freedom to remain in society. I would suggest going along with the program despite the hardships it may produce. Failure to cooperate right now could have devastating effects. Your wife may be inconvenienced by having to go see your PO; but at least she is not inconvenienced by going to visit you in prison.

you should call the probation service and make a formal complaint. Or if you want to do something else try and talk to people in your area that have been on probation. Your police report is a pulic record and if your PO wont give it to you then you should be able to get it from the police, your lawyer or the court.

No, it's not harassment. It sounds like you have a PO that is trying very hard to help you straighten out your life.

You should appreciate her efforts instead of feeling sorry for yourself. You are the offender, after all, and it is her job to help you keep on the right track.
