I have not had sheers touch my hair, even for trimming, in over ten years. My split ends are minimal, btw...
I have straight strawberry blond hair now down to my butt. It will continue to grow, as hair is wont to do, dispite the extremely bizzare and counter-intuitive myth of hair only growing for seven years. If that were the case, ppl with 11 foot hair, and they are not uncommon, would have to grow nearly two feet a year! Weird myth. Maybe they were thinking of werewolves....
I wash it every few days, taking at least a half hour to do so, what with washing the top and conditioning the bottom. I never use a dryer or other such damager, so I let it dry on it's own. It takes about an hour to dry down, and most of a day braided, but it looks soooo nice after... I put it in warrior braids sometimes, or one small braid on the top of the head in the midieval Chinese style, or tie the front ends back... Long hair has been 'in' for centuries. I don't find it a chore at all. And many ppl consider it a signature look. Which isn't the best way of identifying someone.... "Oh, she's the one with the hair..." 'Course, my brother did the same thing in the Hair band 80's. His was longer than mine.
However, when I finally cut it, maybe after it reaches the floor, I'll shave my head. After all, it's just hair...

Depends. I had waist long hair then had 12 inches cut off for locks of love. So, I know the big differences between hair lengths because I felt them shortly after getting my hair cut. so, if you want waist long hair you have to be willing to:
-spend lots of time in the shower properly shampooing and conditioning your hair. when there is a lot of it, it takes a while
-be willing to spend extra time brushing your hair.
but, with longer hair, you also get some rewards like:
-being able to play with your hair (it's not as much fun when it's short)
-I think (others disagree) but I think you have more options for how you want to wear your hair that day if it's longer.
Personally, I like my long hair, although after a while, it does get to be a hassle. This is why I'm going to cut it again for locks of love, plus the hair goes to a good cause.

It's not a hassle to take care of it...wash it, condition it, and use a leave-in cream to gently comb through any tangles. I have curly hair that goes to my upper mid-back; when I straighten it, it's down to my waist. I get nothing but compliments on my hair from people with long and short hair. I can do SOOOO many different things with it. I don't need to wash it every day if I don't want to--Day one wash and get loads of curls; day two, finger fluff it and have lots of big waves; Day three straighten it (and that's just one of my hair itineraries!). I don't regret growing my hair long. The only hair regret I ever had was cutting all off once when I was 18...it took so long for me to grow it back out because I kept getting stuck at that awkward phase when I looked like my mother that I kept cutting it short! Now it's long for good! :-)

Several women in my family have had hair ranging between waist, and below the knee length. You have a tendancy not to wash it on a dialy basis because of the lack of oil near the tips.... you have to have a leave in conditioner!!!!! The only real problem is that with long hair, you may have an issue with migraine head-aches due to the weight. Putting your hair in a pony tail can make it worse. My hair is pretty close to waist length. I LOVE IT!
Good luck! It takes a few years to grow it that long!

I have had waist long hair for most of my life. I have only chopped it off a couple of times, and there isn't that much more care you need to give it. Here's an easy shower routine: shampoo roots, lather body, rinse, condition hair from the neck down, shave, and rinse out most, but not all of the conditioner. Leaving the conditioner in while you shave lets it really work in, and not rinsing out all of it takes away the need for a leave-in conditioner. Brush your hair before you get in the shower, and finger comb through it when you get out.

I had hair just past my hips for 20 years. Then I started getting headaches, even when I wore my hair down. I cut it pretty short, and the headaches went away. I like the freedom of shorter hair, but sometimes I really miss my long, blonde hair. If you don't have problems with it, I'd say go for it or keep it, whichever the case may be.
Just a thought......if you have short hair and are just wondering what you'd look like in longer hair, why don't you try hair extensions? Some of them look really good nowadays when they are put in correctly. Have fun!

it depends... do you or would you put it up most of the time or leave it down? i think it's a hassle because you have to brush it throughly, i mean... if you have the time and you really want to try it, then i say go for it! but if you don't want to take care of it, or don't have the time to, then i say it's not a good idea. i think shoulder length (not too long and not too short), like Mia from the 1st princess diaries, when she got her makeover, looked really pretty.

I don't think so, but I dont think waist long hair is worth anything. Hair that long washes people out... i've never seen it actually look good on someone. It just looks weird.
