i live in upper west side in manhattan, been living there for over 36yrs, want to move out of state , landlord only offering me $20,000 to move out. is this fair, since i've invested alot of money in fixing my apt. i have 2 big bedrooms, and huge living room. elevator in bldg, plus laundry room in the basement. near columbia university Is this fair what they are offering me.

I agree with whatabou-----Please call not just one, but three real estate companies in your area. Get written bids on the amount they could sell your place for. And, their business cards. And, possibly have them (or the one you choose) talk with your landlord. Yes, you have lived there a good length of time, however, for the money you have spent fixing your apt. and today's prices, you should be able to get more than 20,000 for it. I wish you the best. I don't think so....Call a real-state agent and ask them how much it would cost to get an apartment like yours.
