Sorry, I'm religious (although it did take me 47 years to figure it all out) so this is a slam-dunk.
The purpose of life is to convince God that you are nice enough to hang out with him after you die.
So get cracking. Be kind to all ("do unto others as you would have them do unto you" ; "love your neighbor as yourself") and--the worst--forgive others who bother you or otherwise mess up your life. That last one is quite difficult.
For the rest of your time, when you are not being kind to all, just enjoy being alive. It won't last forever.

I saw a TV program on Discovery channel today where an experiment is being constructed (for the past 15 years) that is said to try and answer this by emitting high velocity protons based on four laws of physics- electricity, electromagnetism and two nuclear laws. They are basing their proof of this hypothesis on how these particles emit from this experiment through three dimensional motion of these particles and they are not sure about what the reaction result will be. What I would like to say is- what if this causes a super explosion- like when you bombard an atom's proton structure in a nuclear bomb? Hopefully if you and other people know about this, please pass it on to the people doing this experiment. I would like to hear their response to this.

Life is whatever you decide to make of it. You want the best out of life then work for it and find ways and means to get your wish fulfilled, and if you want to waste it by just goofing around then don't do anything.

Having a little fun, being a little creative, and making just enough money, so you dont leave debt to your survivors, and having enough left over to pay for your own disposal of choice, when you die.

To give some 'god' entertainment as he watches our meaningless 'lives' play out as soap operas, and picks us off one by one to see our reactions.
Think... How we will watch animals, or better yet, ants.
