There is SO much involved with showing dogs. Seriously! You should talk to a reputable breeder who shows, go see a few dog shows and do some research. Learn about the breed standard and disqualifications for the breed you are planning on showing.

Also if you are planning on selling show quality dogs, make sure to have a puppy contract, do home inspections of the people who are planning on buying a dog from you. Make sure that as a stipulation in the contract they have to do conformation or agility with their dog. Or at least get their canine good citizenship.

There is just so much involved, I really hope ur not planning on just jumping into this to make a quick buck. Showing is expensive. As well as taking care of a pregnant *****, and puppies. You are responsible for worming the pups and vaccinating the pups before you sell them.

Anyways just start off by going to shows and see if it is really something you can see yourself committing to. It is alot of work. Goodluck and please be responsible!

The best I can tell you from owning my business is read between the lines. Unfortunately there exists a learning curve and it is very possible you will make mistakes, but it's all in the pre-screening or cherry picking.

As a general rule, if red flags start popping up, it's time to run.
You can only go but so far, but you get paid, then they get the dog, right?
When all else fails, send a collection agency after them.

But really, screen your customers.

I know there was a pair of scammers who showed up in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area a couple of weeks ago, claiming to be from bully rescue agencies/groups but looking for any bully breeds and rotties (for fighting), and smaller dogs (for bait dogs). In theory they were from Maryland but who knows-
I'd be real careful of these ones claiming to be from rescue groups, and make sure to get a card & verify their references before letting your pups go - you might be able (depending on what state you're in, and whatever state you might search) to run a search for outstanding warrants-

Good luck!

I know some people will ask you "how big" your dogs get. Some people only want impressive big dobermans, bulldogs, rotties, akitas etc...they will not love them. They just want them to show off
