what is your opinion on body pircing/tatooing..are you for it? against it? would you ever be open to letting children under 18 do it? what are your resons for letting them or not letting them?

Well I'm a parent that has piercings and tattoos. My husband also has tattoos. We have told my 11 year old son that we expect him to follow the same rules we set up for ourselves (when our other one is older she'll have the same rules spelled out to her)....no facial piercings (b/c even once they are out you can usually still see scarring) and all tattoos have to be where they can be covered up because you have to be realistic that at times it's not appropriate to have them showing. Also he knows we absolutely will not sign for any piercings or tattoos. We want nothing to do with stuff like that with our kids because if they get something that they don;t like we don't want to get blamed for it later!

Piercings and tattoos last forever and to have them done before you are an adult and really think about the consequences is just very wrong. Like with tatoos, you can't just change your mind without incurring a lot of pain and expense. And with certain piercings your body just won't go back to what it was. Ear stretching?

You know I have 2 little ones.. I understand that one day they are going to ask for them.. and here is how we feel about this.. If you say NO.. they are going to go out and let some idiot pull out a needle and jab it into your child and its NOT going to be unsterile and then your going to have problem later with that.. I think if your child ask you could sit down and talk it over with them make them wait about a week or so and if they still want it, take them to see how its done.. thats what I did with my children when they got there ears done.. I know you taking about belly, ear, nose, ect.. but that is the way I feel aabout that.. now on the tattoo's not 100% sure about that one, and my husband is a parttime tattoo-er.. we will just have to cross that bridge when it gets here..

I believe in almost anything in moderation. I had my belly pierced when I was younger. I have since removed it. I don't believe you should let minors do it. They need to be mature enough to decide to mutilate their bodies. I would advise my son to NOT pierce anything that could not be covered for work and to make sure the needles were clean and the person doing the piercing was a pro with a good reputation.

I never cared for the tattoo thing cause when you get older it looks trashy.As far as the body piercing goes.The ears are OK to have a couple of sets of ear rings.I can get into the belly button on girls ABOVE 18. The piercings on the face and lips or in the eye brows and nose are nasty.They look freakish.

For a tatoo I would make them wait until they are 21. Body piercing is just wrong at any age.

personally tats on any ine is gross i would never allow a child under 18 have one done the piercings is another story pierced ears is fine for a girl on a guy they are seedy a tat when 18 is okas long as its taste ful although i would allow a tat girl or boy if it was to resemble something like a tat of a parents name or family member but thats it

i would never let a child under 18 do any of that but after 18 i would let then do whatever they wanted i would hope they would come to me for advice
