my ipod will not recongize when i plug it in to my computer but will still charge, whats going on???

hi pistons450! here are some things to try to get ur computer to recognize ur ipod:
1. reset ur ipod (power on and immediately hold down the Menu and Select buttons): http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
2. plug ur ipod into a different usb port on your computer
3. reboot ur computer and try plugging ur ipod in again
4. if all else fails, restore ur ipod to factory settings - but read this article first: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

does it open itunes for u? if not then something must be wrong maybe ur usb cable is bad or your not plugging it correctly you might want to check out there website
